Welcome surgery sista we will have our surgery on the same day if my heart acts right!

About your insurance usually when you quit a job your insurance is paid til the end of the month but check with your HR to be sure. in any case you could always COBRA but that usually is very expensive. far better to stay at your job til surgery date to be sure and get any vacation time paid to you or short term disability if you have it then never go back. plus you can always be added to the hubby's policy due to a life change ie quitting your job. since your surgery is at the end of the month make sure you pay your premium in full before you quit the job so you are sure to have it til the end of the month.

I haven't been on in a few days and I can't figure out how to respond to you without the quotes. I just wanted to say that you are a wonderful lady. You always have such nice, helpful things to say. I must admit I look forward to reading your posts. I hope your health is improving and the surgery is as little trouble as any surgery can be. I look forward to less foot pain, no more cpap to sleep, and the many other benefits of weight loss. Only three weeks left. The time sure flies. I have a pulmonary clearance appt. in a couple hours. I think only pre-op blood work and pre-op surgeon after that. Are you almost done with all your requirements?

leslie, so glad you posted I was just thinking about you(play twilight zone music lol). I am a PST nurse pre surgical testing so I arranged for all my pre ops to be done here where I work. My checklist is as follows

Pre op testing checklist

x Cardiac clearance redo

 Incentive spirometer “bag” from Kathy

 IVC filter placement scheduled IAH 9/21 w/CVIR

x Labs

x Chest xray

x Ekg

x sleep study

x GI consult: colonoscopy& EGD

x Medical clearance

x Psychiatric consult

x Education program

 Nutrition and surgery pre op post op class@IFOH 9/20

x Behavior modification/compliance

x Nutrition counseling group meeting 2 hrs

 1:1 Coaching with RN-IFOH bariatric education 9/20

 Doctor and Dietician appointment scheduled 9/12

I was so worried about the cardiac clearence because i was in a fib on the day I went in to get it (last friday) I had a long talk with the cardiologist and as long as we control my rate and I am functional (ie no dizziness and shortness of breath during the episodes) we are good to go for surgery. I plan to review this on the 12 with my bariatric surgeon just to confirm the plan. hope you are staying calm and yet getting excited for your new life. I certainly am. can not wait.

oh i suggest we address the person you are responding to by name if you don't want to quote. although quoting sometimes helps if its about a topic that is a few posts back. I wish they had a "reply to" button on posts so peiople could ask the q right there instead of at the end of the thread but thats not how they have it set up.

Maybe once September is over, we can continue our September Members in the post op forum. Maybe we can keep up with each other that way and continue to encourage one another. Surgery is just the beginning of this journey. We could post pics and see each others progress. I'm so thankful I found all of you. Just knowing someone is out there that knows how I feel makes a world of difference....

Jessica

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
