That stinks! I started this whole process May 31, 2011. I didn't realize at the time that with my insurance I had to pay all my surgeon visits up front and wait to be reimbursed after approval! So I had to wait and start over Jan this year. Instead of waiting to submit everything at once, I asked for a copy of everything as I completed it and sent it on my own. I was assigned a bariatric nurse and continued to fax the items in. My final consult with my surgeon was July 10. I received a letter in the mail the 3rd week in July saying it was denied due to my psychological not being done by a psychologist(it was done by a licensed psychological examiner.) Filed grievance, got my approval on Aug 6.

Hang in there.... It will happen! I felt like framing my approval letter! I waited so long from the actual start a year and a half ago! Good luck and keep us posted! God bless....

Took me a year and a half to go through all the clearances and appointments I was past due ready to be done. Then I got my sugery scheduled during the busiest time if year at work so I could only take a week off. All of it was worth it!

I also have my surgery scheduled for September.

September 25, 2012. I started my journey April with a seminar. First dr appt with Bluepoint medical group dr Moazzaz april12. Started my three months of classes 4/24 because traffic was so bad I missed my 1st appt the 20th. I had some complications with my appointment schedule because the regular scheduler was out on maternity leave. I was very upset with the office staff but they made it up to me on my final weigh in. I got my " second" md/np appt that very day and they gave me a surgery date of sept 25. That was July 24 2 days before my 51st bday. I actually do not have official insurance approval but they are confident they will get it this week. My doctor wants me to lose 45 lbs before my surgery day so I started seriously getting a handle on my eating by data entering everything I eat in myfitnesspal. Then I did a few days of Optifast last week to jump start my low carb diet. Now I am low carb only no sweets. I have lost 8 lbs but I do not have a scale that can weigh me so I don't know if I have lost anymore. Will drop by my drs office and use their scale Monday.

So let's start a september surgery group. Anyone else interested?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
