Anxious Would Be An Understatement!

Recommended Posts

Found out Thursday my band had slipped. Found out Friday I'd be having surgery this Wednesday to have it removed with my choice of replacement (the nurse originally said he'd be putting in another band but after all the issues I've had I told her I'd go with nothing before I had another band and magically it became my choice!). If I have no serious damage once he's inside he will do RNY at that time, if there's anything that needs to heal I will be closed up and come back in 6-12 months for the RNY.

I've had 5 days to prep and learn everything I can about pre and post op diets and have spent the weekend nesting and trying to get everything ready for the next 6 weeks or so. I'm frantic!!!!! :D

Although a 5 day liquid diet is soooo much better than the 2 weeks long misery before!

Wish me luck Wednesday and keep your fingers crossed that there will be no complications and I can go straight to bypass!!!!

I'd love to know how different recovery from the RNY is from banding! My banding was on a Wednesday, I was at work (tired but at work) on Monday. Is this realistic with the bypass??? How different are the pain and recovery? Just so much to learn in such a short period!

I had laparoscopic gastric bypass. I spent 2 days in the hospital and was in severe pain for the first 2 weeks. I had to take a lot of pain medication, but each day did get better. The first 2 weeks are very challenging! It took 3 weeks to get back to normal and people usually get STD from work anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks.

I receoverd from RNY pretty quick where my sister took much longer. I think it all depends on the person. I was in the hopsital for 2 1/2 days. My surgery was on a Monday, come home wednesday and back to work the following Monday. I worked 1/2 days in the office and 1/2 at home for the 2nd week. By the 3 week I was ok to go back full days.

Sadly I had a ton of inflammation and extremely thinned stomach wall from the prolapse. They took out the band and sent me home. In 6-12 months I can try again :/

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
