Hi everyone!!! My name is Krystyne and I started my weight loss journey back in September/October time at 315 pounds. I'm currently 268 pounds as of this morning. I started out on the lap band talk website because my heart was set on going for lap band surgery until I met with the dietician and nurse practitioner at DHMC. I have been overweight since age 12 that's when my PCOS kicked in. PCOS is the number one leading cause of infertility in women. I found out that gastric bypass can help reduce your PCOS symptoms and in some women it gets rid of it all together. So at age 12 I went from 110 pounds to 289 pounds in 1 1/2 years. I never changed my eating habits to gain the weight until at like age 16. I was getting picked on at school and the children would "MOO" at me and push me down the stairs so I've had 3 knee surgeries due to that. My husband and I have one child together and last year I suffered 2 miscarriages and even my OBGYN recommended me for bariatric surgery. He wanted me to go for gastric bypass but didn't know if I was big enough and thursday they confirmed that my BMI still qualifies me for it WOOHOO lol. I go on June 14th for my second appointment with the dietician and the nurse practitioner and then I meet with my surgeon afterwards because I got the bright green light to go from the nurse practitioner. Usually at DHMC you don't get to see your surgeon until the 4th or 5th appointment. They said that on June 14th, that after my appointments that they will be sending a request for my insurance to cover my surgery and that could take up to a month. I'm excited because they said that I should have my surgery hopefully by the beginning of August but I'm hoping that it's sooner :) My HUGE reason for the surgery besides getting healthy and to be around longer for my family is to add to our family :) my husband wants 4-5 more (OMG I don't know if I could handle that many lol) but we do want a big family but he's a truck driver that is only home every 1-2 weeks for a few days lol. But that's basically my story. (The pic is of my husband, daughter and I)

Yess! I need a couple support buddies myself. :) my surgery date was 5-29-12

Oh I'll be supporting u also :) how did your surgery go? Did u have tubes afterwards or no? I'm nervous about if I'm going to have tubes coming out of me or not lol

Yes I went home with a drain / tube..

This was to empty all the extra fluid around the area, for after the swelling for a down. Had mine removed on my post-op, 1 week appt.

I wish you guys lived in Louisiana could use the support postoperative . I went to one support group meeting and plan to keep trying. It was kinda crazy more than 1/2 the group were only a year out of surgery and looked great. But they were very interested in going out after group and shaking their money makers. I guess I am not at that stage yet

A support group would be nice....... at least i have this app. Otherwise i would be alone during this journey.

I thank God for this app. Talking to others has calmed my nerves a lot. Although, I still am nervous, it's not as bad.

Baby girl i understand even reading stories from other people help alot. I am happy i found this app and can be part of this group.

Just curious but do your programs have support groups? Both of mine do and I have gone to both despite the drive. Again, just wondering.

My program does but its almost a two hr drive each way and its only two hrs if there is no traffic or road work... to get there for my surgery it was a three hr drive

Oic. Mines an hour but I do that daily to work anyway.

The program that I'm going through does have a support group but it takes 2-2 1/2 hours to drive there one way. I'm trying to find one closer to my house but I'm just thankful for this group. Reading everyone's stories and hearing about their surgery and what they have gone through has helped calm my nerves a little bit except for this whole drainage tube thing lol I hope that I don't need one but if I do then I do. I'm excited that I only have 6 days left until I meet my surgeon :) I'm hoping I find out then when my surgery date is :D
