Feeling Lonely And Discouraged :/

Recommended Posts

First off, I will never regret getting this surgery. :)

However, this pneumonia and abcess in my stomach have sure got me feeling down. :/ I've developed high anxiety due to this because I have nightmares of what else could go wrong. The picc line creeps me out even though I know its making me better. (a picc line is a long IV that goes to my heart and pumps antibiotics)

I have become more religious and I pray alot and I find that it does help. I try not to think "why me" but I cant help it sometimes. Im young and was told that my chance of complications was very low. So of course this is discouraging. And I get cabin fever cause Im home all the time. Even when I do errands with my mom I get self concious because I have to carry around the bag with the pump that has the wire coming out of my arm. ugh. I swear this isnt a pity party. Im just wondering if anyone else had complications that got them down? And what did you do about it?

Sorry to rant but I feel this is the only place where people will understand and not judge me.

Btw, would anyone want to be texting buddies? Ya know for immediate advice or someone to talk to? Im couped up in the house all day. Id love someone to talk to. :)

Don't get discouraged! Get out and do more. Nobody has probably even noticed the picc line or bags. Hope things turn around fast!

I'm sorry your feeling lonely and discouraged. I can imagine how I would feel if I was in your shoes and would probably feel the same. I'm now 7 days post op myself. I initially had the Lapband three years ago but this is a whole new ball game for me!

Do you have any kind of hobby that may be able to keep you occupied or maybe something you may want to get into? I find passing the time when your house bound does help. Try to keep your mind active? Prehaps find some good books to read? I know it doesn't help feeling lonely but it may make it easier on you not to think as much! And just remember this too shall pass.. This is a temporary setback to something that will be so great! Keep your head up.

thanks. i got the lap band 3 yrs ago too! im only 17 days post op. i was 10 days post op when i was readmitted for 5 days. if you feel short of breathing at all call ur doc right away. i figured it was nothing. but ended up being alot more :( i have started reading more and scrapbooking. theres not much i can do though. my back/neck pain from the abcess doesnt allow me to do much. and when im on the pain meds im sleepy. have u had trouble eating? i literally have to FORCE myself to eat/drink lol.

I'm so sorry for what you are going through! I really hope you start feeling well again soon. As far as drinking (lol I think it's funny when we stay eating at this stage as the only thing I chew is Vitamins, does that count as eating?) I don't always feel like drinking(eating) but know I have to. The last couple of days have been a little easier for me to get drinks down again.. So I hope this is a good sign. I'm sooo nervous about everything I put into my mouth. I hope that gets better as well as I don't want to be afraid of food, I just want to be more controlled about what I eat.

Hang in there Lauren! Just a minor setback in your Quest to become healthier! I am 5 days out & already stir crazy. I think I may even go back to work earlier than I planned. Wow! The only liquids is hard & I too have to force myself to eat/drink. Hope you feel much better soon!

Keep your chin up! We can alter our lives with positive thinking and affirmations. I may sound cheesy but I believe it works and I think it has for me. I'd be happy to be a buddy if you need one. - Christine

hi Laurel,

I haven't had my surgery yet and I don't text because I don't have mobile phone but if you're on Facebook I could be your chat buddy or chat to you through e-mail. I'm home all the time also because of a physical disability.Let me know and we can swap info.

I'm still in my six month preop journey. I'm looking at a July date for my surgery.

please try to not be discouraged...

Sorry you feel this way. I know everyone hates it but cleaning takes my mind of things. Cross word puzzle. Actually it would take me months to write everything I do Lolz...

Everything will be fine.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
