October 100 Mile Challange!

Hey everyone! Great job on your totals for September and a huge thank you to Butterthebean for starting that post and challenging us all to challenge ourselves. We all wish BTB great success and a speedy recovery from his surgery. We know you will be watching and cheering us on. October is among us and with that comes a new challenge. 100 miles in 31 days! Walk, run, bike, whatever you do, log those miles and drink that water! Anyone who has been lurking in the shadows and watching last months challenge, now is your time to join us! It doesn't matter if you do 1 mile a day or 20, just go at your pace and have fun! For those of us who participated in last months challenge, I want to issue a personal challenge to add another 15 miles to what you did last month. After all, there is 1 more day in this month.

On a side note, this group has become very motivational for me as well as others. If you don't mind, let's let everyone know your real first name. If you would rather not and just want to go with your username that is perfectly fine. I will kick it off...my name is Ted. Good luck everyone and log those miles!!

I did 4 miles today , except my fitbit said I did 8.5 ( I added my activities on there and it calculated my steps to be 8.5 miles ) . I guess I should be good and only accept the 4 miles :) lol

Hi my name is sarah, I was sleeved May 28th. I have just now started exercising but am excited to join the challenge. Today I did 2.6 miles at the gym. Let's do this!!

Does driving to work with your bike on the back of your count as riding? I had good intentions to go tonight, but got out of work late.

I did walk 2 miles today.

I'm in! My name is Parker. For day one I walked 8 miles. I walked an even 200 miles last month (thanks to Georgia!), not sure I'll be able to top that, but I'm going to give it my best shot.

Butter so glad you're doing well.....woohoo to the missus.

Ted, glad your wife' surgery went well.

Wow! Lots of new faces! Glad to meet everyone. Here's to lots of miles this month!

1.3 miles today - not a great start, but at least I got off the couch! And I joined the Squatober challenge my trainer put me up to - 100 squats today. Add to that my 45 strength training workout & I'm feeling smiley :)

I'm in!! I logged 4 miles tonight with Map my Walk. Hello everyone I am Lynn from Mississippi.

Hi Everyone- I'm Jacki from Cleveland, OH (go Bucks! Tribe! and Browns!) just read this thread today and will start logging my activity tomorrow. I'm a little behind the others, but who cares!!!!! Let's get moving!

Ok, October first an even 5 miles... Couldn't just do nothing today with this knee pain. Mowed lawn and coached volleyball tonight!

I am seriously shocked I weighed 147.4 this morning. No clue except I did a low day on Monday and a true fast day yesterday and switched up having a morning shake instead of my normal bran flakes oh yes increased exercise. thanks butter!

That's 3+ pounds since Sunday! I'll take it. maybe this exercise thing does work. :)

6 miles so far this month. Ran 4 miles this morning.

So excited! My trainer has decided to match my 100 miles!! She's awesome, this will totally help keep me going. And Laura-Ven inspired me to get a bike (for now I'm going to borrow one). I haven't ridden a bike in 33 years!!!

I'm starting to think I might actually be able to get to 100!!

So I started off Oct. with a bang, and did a double workout yesterday. I just started last week with a new fitness class called Women and Weights. I go to a gym regularly and take classes, at least 3 a week. But my own personal preference is cardio...I like the exercise high I get from it. But I was only doing a small amount of weights, so I decided to take a class gear towards weight lifting ...and liked the idea of women only. There are 7 of us in the class (so nice small group) and the instructor changes things up everyday.

So I Tues and Thurs I do 1 hour of weight lifting and then go directly to do an hour of spin. Now yesterday for weight lifting, she decided to warm us up by having us do cardio. I did a mix of the stairclimber (first time trying this machine and must say I'm not a fan...the moving stairs are a bit dizzying and the only way I could manage it was to make it super-fast otherwise my toes kept hitting the stairs as the unfolded from the machine...) and the treadmill. So I added those numbers into my total so far.

18.2 is my kickoff number!

I'm Chris,

The thread last month was a HUGE motivator for me too, so glad you started this up for October! I got started late in September so I didnt' get to 100, but 60 in 17 days I was happy with.

I got 5.2 miles in last night.

Good luck everyone!

4 miles yesterday, walking and sprinting. I have an injury with my hip that I am trying to resolve. It has seriously slowed down my workouts and it's driving me crazy!

Hi Everybody: happy October challenge! I did bupkis yesterday but rode my bike 15.7 miles today. Butter - so glad your surgery went well and Ted- also so glad that your wife's surgery also went well.

pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4; 12 weeks post-op 274
