So' date=' I'm finally back after having the flu. Went to the gym yesterday for the first time in almost 2 weeks - amazing how quickly you can lose what you've worked so hard to achieve! As a result, I'm much further behind than I had hoped to be at this point in the month, but I decided to keep going. Even if I don't hit 100, it's still more than I did last month, and there's always November to gear up for! As of yesterday, I'm at 31.7 miles and 1500 squats. Holding steady at 181 lbs (lost 2 while I was sick, so that's somethin') and 1.5 lbs from my halfway mark. Decided that I'm going to splurge on a bike as my reward. That should help me with the 100 miles![/quote']

Well, don't "overdo". Glad you are feeling better!

It is amazing how fast you lose your fitness progress....bit it comes back even quicker. After a week or so you'll be right back where you were.

My Insanity updates…

Day 4: (10/17) Cardio Recovery - 40 minutes of intense strength-training

Day 5: (10/18) Pure Cardio – 55 minutes of EXTREME cardio…this was CRAZY Intense!!

Day 6: (10/19) Plyometric Cardio Circuit – 42 min of lower body cardio

Day 7: (10/20) Much Needed REST DAY!! (Completed and survived week 1)!!

Day 8: (10/20) Cardio Power & Resistance – 40 min of upper body strength-training

Day 9: (10/21) Pure Cardio - – 55 minutes of EXTREME cardio' date=' getting a little easier, the 2[sup']nd[/sup] time around

Day 10: (10/22) Plyometric Cardio Circuit - 42 min of lower body cardio

This morning Day 11: (10/23) Cardio Recovery – 33 min of lower intense workout

I wanted to add a few more miles to my month total… (Total Miles: 115 - 725 Total Squats), but I am to beat with this workout to even consider doing any additional walking or biking!! Hopefully in month 2, I’ll have the energy to do both.

You are killing it, daily! Thanks for posting. I am on vacation and miss my prescribed daily cross fit workout. yes it is an addiction. :) it is going to be 95 f out almost every day, so am thinking about running inside on treadmill rather than outside in the heat. Does anyone know if running 10 k would work in 95 f temp? That seems like a recipe for overheating to me. There is a nice gym here in the community we are staying at, but it is mostly cardio machines and resistance machines. No free 45 lb bars. There is a bar attached to a cage, but i have no idea how to use it. In my mind, It feels weird to uses resistance machine as have been doing Olympic lifts for with just me, some plates and a 45 lb bar for many months now. There are some dumbbells and some weighted balls in the gym, so think I will form a timed workout around those (cleans, man makers, etc) along with push-ups, pull-ups, jumping lunges, etc. I also brought my "be your own gym" DVD, so am planning to do that also this week.

Sorry to be a downer, but daylight savings time ends on Nov 3. It will be darker when you get off work. Time to start getting up early!

wow, bummer. I thought since we push the clocks back, it would be a little lighter for a while. Oh well. Thanks!

i lost my fitbit somewhere in the cave/ocean/hike/pool/ferry/hotel. But beore that, I had 3.5 miles on it and that doesn't count the hour long HIKE into the cave nor the 30 mins of swimming.

Edit: That puts me at 50.2 miles. I should be really excited today because of what I accomplished but I lost two pitches and lost my new fitbit and it's being kinda sh@tty considering I'm on vacation and all this bad news is piling up so I'm sulking. I will go sulk and then I will come back and Celebrate that i freaking hiked a cave today!

Go to the fitbit website and Email them. I lost mine once and they replaced it for free.

I can see once you get yourself into a workout regimen and you miss a day or so…it can get to you. I just started my program and I crave the next workout and I rather have this new addiction versus my food addition I used to have.

I would imagine that 10k in 95 temps is doable as long as you keep yourself hydrated. When I walk or bike I like doing it outdoors as living in the Midwest the workouts in the winter are spent indoors.

Good luck with your workout during your vacation…BTW, I need to pick up that DVD you mentioned, sounds good.

We just got finished with our 6 months of summer here in texas. I ran that distance many times and it was 95 everyday. Yes I did run in the heat of the day a few times and it's no fun, but I was acclimated to the heat so it's not like it was dangerous for me. For of....it might be different. On the other hand, it can't be 95 all day long. Likely it's cooler at dawn right? That's when you should be running.

There are many smart phone apps you can use to track your mileage. Map my run is a good one. There are also a bunch of pedometer apps as well. In other words.....we're not letting you quit.
They all need wireless and/or a data plan. I'm in Mexico where I don't have one. So my iPhone is just an expensive camera for now. I will be home late tomorrow night. I will still have Friday to track! Yay!

Besides I spent all today eating! At a cooking class! So much fun. Tomorrow I travel so I will def get at least 2 miles which seems to be my standard airport mileage. Then I will have to crank out 8 more until the end of the month. So doable. I'm so on vacation I thought the end of the month was Friday.

Okay I'm back in! Woo hoo!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
