Recommended Posts

So im having a little panic attack right now..worrying that i am eating too much food..can anyone help me understand if this is too much food?

Typical day

Breaky- 1/2 cup instant cream of wheat w/ 2tsp of vanilla yogurt(not greek) and 1tsp of seedless raspberry jelly

Lunch- 1/2 cup of pureed fat free refriex Beans w/ 1tbsp full fat sour cream and 2tsp of pureed salsa

Dinner- same as lunch OR 1/2 cup of organic pre made Tomato Soup

Snack: 1/2 cup fat free chocolate pudding

Am i eating too much???? Im scared that eating 1/2 cup servings of Beans is too much..I dont feel overfull..just full but last week i could only eat 1/4 cup of refried pureed beans.. I am concerned that even though im measuring everything i eat..im eating too much..Whats normal for a serving in purees for beans??

I was eating half a cup VERY early on! I now eat 3/4 to 1 cup and it's been stable like that for a while.

For the first few days to several weeks, you can have a lot of inflammation of the sleeve. as that goes down the sleeve will hold more and more food.

What's normal for me is not normal for you. Are you veering away from your proscribed diet? Are you going over on your calories? Do you feel sick after eating? Do you feel overly full?

If your answers to that are no, then you're doing okay.

Doesn't sound like much to me at all. I eat much more than that every day and I'm rapidly loosing weight.

You are doing fine. Remember as each day goes by the swelling in your stomach goes down more and you are able to eat more. Sounds like you are healing nicely. Just stay on the diet your doctor told you and you will be fine! :)

Even at 17 weeks out one day I may be able to eat 3/4 a cup and other days it might only be a 1/2 a cup. My NUT said the swelling can fluctuate for up to 6 months so the changing in restriction could change each day. Just stop when you feel full and you will be perfectly fine! :)

It seems like most of your food is still pretty soft. Those soft/liquidy foods go down alot easier for you right now. I guarantee the more solid foods that you begin to eat, the more restriction you will have. Just concentrate on your Proteins and fluids. Good idea to watch and realize what you are eating. I think you are doing fine, but if in doubt, def ask your dr or nut! Happy Journey!

I wondered the EXACT same thing at 3.5 weeks. Here is my two cents: I was eating very similar to you at 3 weeks out. I never felt sick, nothing ever came back up, and my doctor told me not to worry about calories and to just make sure and get my Protein and fluids in. The doc also told me that I was healing quickly and that I must not have had much swelling (which is a good thing). He also promised me that once I got to solids, I would feel the restriction. Well...I am THRILLED to report that he was right. I'm at 5.5 weeks. The last couple days I have moved on to real solid food (with my surgeon's blessing). Here was today:

B: Egg muffin (homemade with egg whites and veggie sausage - very tasty!).

L: 3 oz. brisket

Snack: 5 oz Protein pudding from GNC

D: 3 oz turkey with 3 slices reduced fat swiss cheese (I used the cheese as my "bread").

Today, I was not hungry at all. I had to remind myself to eat. I didn't feel overly full today, but I am completely and totally satisfied. And I have no cravings for sweet things (sweets are my downfall). Today is honestly the first day that I have felt absolutely sure that I didn't make a mistake having this surgery.

Bottom line: try not to worry. As long as you are following your doc's instructions, you're fine and it will all work itself out. My doc was great about reminding me how steep this learning curve is....

Even though they were sugar free, I was concerned they'd make me crave other sweet things. My husband is still eating them and there are days I know he has like 3-4 of them. They're his little 10-calorie treat I guess. To me, they're the devil in disguise :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
