To Flu Shot or Not to Flu Shot

I am 2 weeks Post-Op..

I asked my surgeon what his take was on Flu shots, (cuz I hate sickness.) he said it was my call.

I've had 3 Flu Shots in my Adult life & all have made me violently ill & did not work for the flu cuz those years i was sicker than sick.

that being said I don't want to get sick. I normally take airborne but I only like the drink, it's fizzy (can't have it) the other one you have to take 4 just to get the same effect. (& I don't htink it's as good) what is everyones take on what they think is best to do.

Like you I'm not a flu shot girl myself. The only time I have gotten sick is when I've gotten the shot. I would look at the Vitamin list on the Airborn and see if you can get the immune supplements another way. Or...just your fizzy one go flat...then drink away. Either way...hand washing, hand washing, hand washing. I swear by this....and I've taught in elementary & middle schools for 15 yrs. with little to no sickness.

Hope this helps.

Ps--follow the Dr. Advice and go with what works for you

I would not take the flu shot if it makes you sick. I have taken it for many years and I got sick once right after taking it. However, I never took my flu shot from them again, at that time it was my then employer.

I am 10 days out and got my flu shot 2 days ago with approval of my surgeon and pcm. my pcm said I needed it more than ever. no problems since. feelin fine

I've actually been getting them for the past 8 years & never had any issues. So I didn't think I'd have a problem now at almost 11 mons post op. So I got my flu shot yesterday & feel fine.

Got my flu shot this week, no problems, although I've never had a problem with one, so it's all good. Better than having the flu, I've got asthma which is no fun with the flu.

Had the flu once in my life that wad enough for me now get the shot

Thanks for the input. Still unsure what I'm going to do, but this helps a lot.

Thousands of people die every year from the flu; nobody dies from the flu shot. It's a no-brainer for me.

Worst thing about flu shot is you get sick from a Strain it didn't cover. Like last years didn't cover a lot of folks. I always take it since it is not live virus ( unless you get the nasal) and I am prone to upper respiratory anyway and take forever to recover !

Always a personal choice but like someone else said people die from the flu. Not likely from the flu shot.

I was given the flu and pneumonia shot day 2 after surgery. I feel fine. Sept 17
