Didn't Recognize Myself

Recommended Posts

Spent the weekend at a friend's 50th birthday celebration in New Orleans! What fun! Mostly I shopped.

Looking at pictures posted on FB, I saw this woman in some of the group shots and asked "who's that?" Oh my, it was me! And I look happy and comfortable, instead of awkward and out of place. Here's a new shot and and old pic.

I am having a hard time reconciling the image in the mirror with my self perception. the numbers tell me that i am smaller than the person i see, but no matter how much i analyze i cannot see that thinner self, perhaps in a few months.

I will admit to having a hard time figuring out who I am now. Especially when I am trying to get dressed, and I shop for replacement clothes. I automatically reach for the XL size, the baggy / flowy sweater or jacket, the largest pants. I've bought and returned a lot of things because I realized that they were the "old me." But I don't know the new me yet, and it's an adjustment.

The other thing is that I can't actually see the 58 lbs I've lost. I only see the 30 lbs I have left to lose. Periodically I try on my old clothes then I can really see the difference.

We'll get there -- i.e. when the head image matches the body. It will be amazing!

I try everything on now. I buy nothing without trying it on! I often take 2 different sizes into the dressing room as well and have learnt to try on the smallest first, not the largest. I do this because I realised if the bigger of the two fits then I don't try the smaller but often the smaller fits and looks better! It has taken me a while to get used to this but I am loving shopping these days :-D

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
