What is best TASTING Protein shake?

Recommended Posts

Ok I am a terrible eater which is why I have a band that I hate and now I am looking at the sleeve...

I HATE the taste of all diet drinks... Yes I tried them and I realllly hate the taste.

I'm praying there is a Protein shake that is really good. Like chocolate milk good hahahaha. Or is there a good flavorless Protein that I could mix into a carnation instant Breakfast.

And I know I have to stay away from sugar but I really need help finding a Protein Shake that is so good my brain doesn't realize it's good for you LOL

Since I won't be spending money on fast food I can afford to pay a little more for good flavor ... I am NOT a coffee drinker. I like the basics chocolate vanilla strawberry and Carmel flavor if there is one.

Thank you guys for all of you wonder help!!'

My favorite so far has been Chike. Mainly because it's a thicker consistency that tastes more shake-like. The others I've tried are more watery, which is something I have a hard time dealing with.

Post sleeve- I was nauseated by sweet for months. Unjury is unflavored, strawberry, vanilla, choc, cheese sauce and ckn Soup. I was a terrible shake drinker! I preferred the thinner ones- odwalla, was not so sweet ! To enhance my protein-- I pureed meatloaf, thinned w beef stock-- don't look just drink--- it was heaven !! Pot roast the same ! I would add a scoop of the unflavored unjury powder-- only negative is can't heat it above 120 or 140 if clumps up. If you haven't found the webpage-- the world according to egg face-- she has a ton of good ideas. I was lucky-- I was at goal when I had my sleeve-- I didn't have to do the reduced calorie diet stuff again, which made life taste better. My absolute favorite is Gladiator from smoothie king-- it Has a whopping 45 gms Protein. Avail I'm 3 flavors and low carb.

I swear by Premier Protein chocolate shakes, tastes like thin chocolate milk to me. I toss in 1 scoop of some powdered chocolate soy Meal Replacement to make it thicker.

I also like EAS carb control chocolate shakes, but they are a little thinner and I can sometimes feel a little graininess on my tongue.

Both are low carb and high in Protein. I pick them up at Sam's Club and Wal-Mart. I think the EAS are 4 for $5 and the Premier are 12 for $19.

I use a local brand (I'm from buffalo,NY) but you can purchase them online. They are a little pricey but deff worth the money! I have not found one with more Protein less carbs and a little Fiber than this one. My doctors office even sells it. It's called Bariatric Fusion.< /p>

Protein shakes are all about personal taste. I think unjury chocolate Splendor is the best, I would mix it with skim milk plus and a few ice cubes, mix it up in the blender and it was just like a shake.

Unjury has sample size packs that you can order online. Good Luck!

Syntha 6 . I do the vanilla ice cream flavor with a few cut up strawberries and throw it in the blender . It's so good . Or the chocolate cake batter . For 4 oz , you get 22 grams of Protein .

I like Premeir Protein Vanilla with a dash of cinnamon in it. Tastes like a snickerdoodle cookie. (I read about that on these boards, but can't remember who to credit!) Best price is at Sam's Club. You can also mix sugar-free Jello powder or pudding mixes in it.

You might want to try some samples of different brands to see which ones tastes best to you. Good luck!

Post op I have to be on clear Proteins for 2 weeks and that has been hard for me to find. But I found ONE that I like its Isopure cocotein. 20g Protein, no carbs and 100 calories. It's coconut Water flavored. I've also liked the isopure Cookies and cream Protein Powder, and banana cream flavors. They aren't as nasty as many of the other powders, and give you 50g of protein, and 230 calories. If mixed with milk it's even more protein, but they are ok just mixed with water. I have also found that if I CAN't smell them- they taste better. (Any protein shake) so I tend to drink them with a cup with a lid so the smell doesn't smack me in the face.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
