Just about to book my flights and I am soiling my underwear- HELP !

Okay, I'm scheduled with Dr Illan October 5th (haven't found another person going near my date so not looking like I'll have a buddy right now) Of course I think about it all the time but it's still kind of felt like it was in the future. I started to book my flights and realized it was all too real and now I am soiling my pants in fear !! - what the heck am I doing guys ?? - what if I HATE it after it's done and I want my old stomach back but it's too late ? - this panic is temporary, it hits me about every second or third day, but please, tell me I'm not mad for doing this.

I absolutely agree with Sherri. I trusted Omar with my child...who is 16. She loved him and he took excellent care of me too. The Dr anf nurses were very attentive. Pm me..I can talk to u personally to u if u have questions. If ur interested in Dr Illan he will Skype with and ur husband Omar can set that up as well. Let me see if I can find his email for u.

Indigochild, i am going through the extact same thing but I am going to take a leap of faith and do it. I found out that 2 of my coworkers went to Tijuana and used Dr. Lopez. One about 3 months ago, and one about a year ago. I was shocked that people I actually knew HAD actually already done this so that settled it for me as far as surgeons because I had them right in front of me to answer all of my questions. My husband will be staying home with our daughter as well but luckily my mom agreed to go with me or I would be going alone too. I hope you're able to find peace in your decision amd know what is right for you. Just know that someone else, probably more than just me, can relate and knows exactly what you're going through.

Oops forgot to say I have been smoke free going on 5 weeks. I have more energy than I have had in years. I feel fantastic. I walk 2 miles every day at 3:30AM in the morning and I work 6am to 6pm. So yes I'm enjoying my new life....lol

LOVE the smoke free!!!!!!!! way to go :D

Thank you so much. It's comforting to know that so many people like you have done this, had a wonderful experience, and are willing to reach out to others and share their stories. If you run across that email, I'd love to have it. Thanks again.

Bajabariatrics@yahoo.com u can also go to mysurgeryoptions.com thru that web site I believe susan is a coordinator. She is actually the one I went thru. But u can email Omar directly at the yahoo address or go thru susan who is very helpful ad well. Anything else I can do to help just ask. I am paying it forward...

I am new here and have been following the forum for about a month. I am absolutely certain that I want this surgery, I need this surgery. I have struggled with my weight since I was a child. Here's my dilemma: I cannot decide WHERE to have my surgery. I have insurance but it does not pay for the surgery, so I am a self-payor. Hubby flipped out when I told him I wanted to have the surgery in MX. But locally this type of surgery is very expensive. I fear I will have complications and panic thinking I will be in another country... ALONE because hubby will have to stay home with our children. One day I am all about just scheduling the surgery and heading for MX, then I panic, back out, and I'm thinking I'll have it locally and just amass huge debt. I know I sound like a goon, but I'm panicking because I don't really know what I should do and I'm wasting time. Help..?

Hi Indigo. I'm pre-op and this site has really helped me make a decision about a surgeon. If you read through the Mexico board it really gives you a good idea how things go in Mexico. A few people actually detail their entire experience, which is amazing! I plan to do the same thing because I've found it so useful and want to provide that for others.

I'm going with Dr. Illan in November, probably the 25th. So, if you decide to go with him and go in November, I'd be happy to be your surgery buddy! :) I'm terrified as well, but thankfully I'll have my husband with me and he is a spanish-speaker so that brings me a lot of comfort. The idea of being so vulnerable in the midst of a language-barrier can be really anxiety-inducing. lol

I love the idea of being surgery buddies! I read your post, got all excited and discussed the possibility with my husband. He's beginning to come around I think. Said it sounded like a great idea! (He's come a long way... Just a week ago he was telling me that I was crazy, my organs would be harvested and sold on the black market and I'd be imprisoned and left to die in a hospital with a dirt floor...Funny, huh? :) So I phoned Dr. Illan only to find that they are completely booked for November. (Sigh) So, it was back to the drawing board for me and I decided to go with Dr. Ariel Ortiz. I really hope I've made a good decision... Because my surgery date is NOVEMBER 29th !!! :). Yay us!! ;)

I think Dr. Ortiz is a great choice! Yay us! My husband has been so supportive from the beginning. Almost tooooo supportive. lol I checked to make sure he hadn't taken out any extra life insurance on me. :) Kidding! (kind of) I'm just nervous. Sooooo nervous!

I believe u can call Omar to find out if they r open for November...1-619-623-5368 r any other month

We have lots of openings for Dr. Illan between now and the end of the year. If you are interested in having surgery with him, just PM me or post here requesting additional information and I will be happy to get the process rolling for you.

Ugh, my dad was like this constantly! He would call me multiple times daily to tell me they were going to shoot me and steal my check, or harvest my organs, or leave me stranded in Mexico. It drove me nuts. He was actually surprised when I got back in the US, perfectly healthy minus 85% of my stomach.

Oh gosh guys. What do I do? I've already paid a deposit with OCC. I bet it's too late to change isn't it?
