100 mile challenge

Howdy fitness freaks. Today marks the 30 day countdown till my long awaited TT surgery. Damn I'm excited. To Celebrate, I'm going to spend the next 30 days doing something I've never done before.....I'm going to run 100 miles in the next 30 days. Certainly other people have done it...even people on this forum have done it. But it will be my biggest monthly total to date. I never ran a step voluntarily until last year. Since then, my life and body have changed so much.....I can't imagine not having this great gift I've found. To me running is like a newly found super power....one that I never thought I'd have.

So I'm going to run 100 miles total between now and my surgery date of 9/30. If anyone wants to join me...walk, run, hike, bike .........whatever you can do.

BTW Laura-Ven has agreed to do the 100 miles with me.....so I'd appreciate y'all's help in making sure she does it. She needs your "motivation".

I went ahead and hopped in my car and drove the route I took while riding. It was a little over 12 miles' date=' so I'm going with 12. That puts me at 81 miles.

I was gonna suggest that.... Then I thought, I'm probably the only one ocd enough to do that. Glad it's not just me. :)

I love reading this thread. It really inspires me and I can't WAIT until I can participate in one of these.

After hurting for over a week, I was able to walk a mile today and I cannot tell you how good it felt. Feeling hopeful :)

I'm with you Gamegirl. I'm looking forward to getting on board from the beginning next time! I didn't get my bike until mid September, but have tried to get in as much as I can. I've been closely following this thread and should get over my 50 mile mark tonight.

Haha! No, I only have 3 days to complete my 100...so, I'll do whatever it takes!

Thanks again for posting this challenge...it has been the most awesome experience that has lead to the most self gratifying feeling I have ever felt in a long time. You rock butter!!!

+2 yesterday. 1 being a warmup before lifting hearty and the other being for time (4:44) after lifting. I feel great today after replacing a bed cushion, like I finally slept well to feel recovered in the morning. Finally! I have lost track of my total miles for the month, but think it is around 130 and will need to add them up.

Good day for me today....beautiful weather. Walked 7.5 miles making my total 160. Sent from my iPad using VST

GOOD. LORD. !!!!!!!!! :)

Did a great 6 mile trail run this morning with the dogs. They are beastly little trail runners....till they get tired. I never thought I'd live to see the day I could out distance them. It is nice though having running companions that never complain and always seem genuinely happy to hit the trail.

So.......Day 27...123.5 miles total.

Bean, you rock! Can't wait to see your "after" shots from your future races!!!!

Soooo I've been conspicuously absent for the past few days. I've had a slight set back as my sciatica flared up after my last ride which was very bumpy and probably not too smart after having just had a massage and chiropractic adjustment the day before. I also totally f-d up my phone when I downloaded the new IOS and lost some of my data. Had lots of work stuff too and although I felt good enough to exercise yesterday, between work and a Dr. Apt I had no time. Today I woke up after after a good night's sleep feeling that old lethargy and low-grade state of depression that is how I always used to feel pre-surgery. If it weren't for this challenge I think I would have puttered around the house and maybe done some shopping. But I got my butt on my bike and rode 16.4 miles for at total of 94.4. I can do it! Thanks Butter and everyone for continuing to inspire me to push myself a little further each time and continue changing my life! You are all AMAZING!!!!

Ohh now you have me more scared about downloading the new iOS update o.o

Glad your feeling better. And 94.4 Miles??

That's great!

Just be sure to sync your phone first. The problem was really my own fault cuz I forgot my own passcode and locked the phone. Something about the different visual display just boggled my poor, pathetic, middle-aged brain. I had to do a hard reset on the phone and restore it. ????

Hi all! I've been getting my miles in...over the past two days I've done 10.25 miles..walking and biking. My total now is 83.71. I plan on going over 100 miles by the 30th. I am so grateful to have found this challenge..thank you, Butter and everyone else that has joined this challenge. You all keep me accountable!

Rode my bike for over an hour today. A lot of up hill riding. I did not calculate the mileage. Can any of you give me an estimated guess as to how many miles that might be????

Sent from my iPhone using VST

When I do my exercise bike, it tells me that 30 minutes at about 18-20 mph is equal to 8.25 miles. Going up hill probably slowed you down a bit but I would say it's safe to say you probably got in around 15 miles (??)

Wow you guys are all doing so well. I'm so pleased at how this thing has grown and I hope next month is even better. I hope you all stay in it and try to top this month in October. It just goes to show you....goal setting really works. And not just vague "I'm gonna get in shape" goals. But specific, measurable goals that you can reach for....it's helped me and I'm inspired by all of you for reaching for this goal.

Keep it up.

Took a break today, back on it tomorrow!! Hoping to get 50 miles by the 30th and then double it next month.

Howdy folks! I hope everyone had as great a day as I did! I only did walking today but I did include some short running in my laps at work today on my lunch break. I have also gotten in the habit of taking the longest route possible when going from my office to where ever I need to go in the building. I walked 4.17 miles today which puts me at 108.9 miles total.

I started doing some light weights last night for the first time since surgery. A lot of the weight I have lost seems to be in my arms and shoulders. Time to get to work on that problem. I even stopped after work and picked up some kettle bell weights today. I started with a set of 10 lbs and will work my way up from there over time. Once again, another element of fitness I would not have imagined a few months ago. Thanks everyone for the encouragement everyday and I hope I can do the same for you all!
