Am i kidding myself?

Recommended Posts

I'm 46 and I feel like I'm 60. I'm 5'5 and 235. I'm getting sleeved Sept 10. I feel like this surgery will make me feel like I'm in my 30's again. Am I kidding myself? Am I going to be smaller' date=' but still feel like I'm 60? I just think with less weight and working out more i will have more energy. I just have no get up and go. What have you 40's ladies who have been sleeved noticed in your energy level?[/quote']

I was sleeved July 11 and after the first week been working out daily. I am 45 do I feel younger no will you have more energy yes.

I am also hoping for more energy. I do feel better, but still do not have the level of energy I would like. The last time I lost weight, I did it with the aid of phentermine, and I think I just have a skewed view of how energetic I was from the last time! I was on a stimulant FCOL!

I think some people look down on me for having the surgery so young' date=' like they think I didn't give myself long enough to try and lose it on my own. Well I've been trying to lose weight and keep it off since I was 13 and was obviously unsuccessful.

The surgery has completely changed my life. Now I exercise 5 days a week and I love it. I've lost 110lbs and I never could have done that without this.

Good luck I hope you have another baby <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />[/quote']

Who cares what anyone thinks! You saved your life!! Not to mention if you started when you were 13 you for sure had many years and tears of trying on your own!

I'm hoping for the same! Just turned 40, two little ones and I swore I'd be in the best shape of my life by this last birthday...instead of continuing to beat myself up I'm gonna take control this year:-). Should be kicking ass by 41. No date yet, but surgeon visit next and likely late October in Boston.

I'm 35, sleeved May 29th, I will say I feel a lot better now at 35 than I did at 32, 33, 34 while I was carrying the 50lbs I have lost so far! I had no co morbidities, but was sluggish and tired a lot.

This is the best thing I have ever done for myself!

Just turned 44 in late-September, getting sleeved in November - I'm calling that my REbirthday.

I hope my only regret is that I didn't do this sooner - like in my 30's when I started thinking about it!

Hi I'm Chele! I'm 47, 5'3" and started out at 238. I had the Gastric Sleeve surgery on 12/29/14. I am now down to 220 but most of that was lost before the surgery (I started the procecss in May 2014). It has been less than five days so I have a long road to travel. I would love to hear any food/eating tips from successful members! Thanks!

I'm 46 and 8 days post op I feel awful can't hold more than 8 oz down all day

8 oz of what? Don't push yourself, allow your body to heal. Focus on your fluids, sip, sip, sip. The rest comes with Time.

I am 48 and as of today am 5 weeks post op and I can tell you that when my alarm goes off at 5:30am I only hit the snooze once. Prior to surgery I could roll myself out of bed until 9:00 even though I have to be at work by 10. By the time I got home from work at 5:30 I needed a nap. Now I am actually a part of the evening activities at my house. I am only hopibg it gets better as more weight falls off. You will feel better and by keeping a healthy positive attitude you will feel better faster. Good luck to all of us midlifers!

I was sleeved at 52 (two months shy of (52). Turned 53 yesterday. Best I've felt in 30 years.

Yes, it's not unreasonable to think you'll feel waaay better!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
