August Sleevers...how are you doing? Any friends near Monterey?

Well, I did it. I am relieved it's over and I can get on with the new me.... The doctor/surgeon was amazing! The regular hospital medical staff was less to be desired. but ka sa ra sa ra.... My shoulder hurts from gas coming up I am told, ouch. My arm and hand hurt from where the IV's were put in, yes twice, and neither time was good. My side hurts like the dickens where the tubing was put in, but as for the rest. (But there wasn't any real pain taking it out, just a small pinch at the end) My stomach has no pain. I am sore, and still can't bend, but I am walking a lot, short amounts but often. I am dying to eat, anything that is not in sloppy cream of wheat form and can't wait to get back to my fresh fruit and veggies. So far I have tried Designer Whey, and hate it- I don't like vanilla I guess. I am not a fan of unjury either. I do ok with Muscle milk light. I am lactose intolerant and have to be careful with that. But I do like, no love the Chicken Broth, called "Chicken Bouillon Herbox Instand Broth and Seasoning" comes in small packets, it is gluten free and no msg. Looked on line and can buy in a box at Walmart. These are packets that the hospital gave me, and the only thing I had at every meal. So check them out if you need something different. I have lowered my pain meds by only 1/3 of was was recommended and feel I can be done with it all in another day or two. Which makes me happy. Hate taking that stuff, unless really needed. Anyone else frustrated with the waiting part? Anyone else feeing so good after such a short time? I was Sleeved on the 19th (Monday) and sent home 21st (Wednesday) this week. Anyone find something other than shakes to eat. Right now I am living on Ensure chocolate pudding and this Chicken broth it seems like. Of course water and hot tea. Any suggestions? Any one else in the same boat? Write me- love to hear how your doing too! Blessings for quick recoveries for all of us who have braved this major step in our lives!

  • Hi everyone. This is my first post. I was sleeved on August 21, 2013. I'm still on the stage one clear liquid diet, but I am really anticipating the stage two full liquid diet. I've been following my

Hugs to all. I was sleeved in the 27th. Physically great! Mentally and emotionally a freaking mess. Cried today when I watch the Long Island medium eat pizza on her show - thinking I want to eat that whole pie.

I was told to stay away from raw veggies and fruits except watermelon and bananas for 30 days.

Oh wow, I was told I can have any pureed fruit or veggie except stringy ones, like celery, anything that wont puree well. That could be why veggies arent going down so well lol.

I completely understand, I wish I would have known how bad the mental aspect of the surgery is. That way I could have been better prepared.

They said we can have cooked veggies or the little fruit cups that are in Water or its own juice.

I had lap band to sleeve on August 21, and I am so hungry, like most of you and sick of all the sweet! I broke down and had a soft scamled egg and had no issues and felt much better after some real protein. I have not lost any weight yet and its been 11 days!! I walk everyday. Liquids go down without any trouble. Any suggestions???

I would be calling the doctor, and saying I want a refund, lol. Just kidding...but really you haven't lost anything? If your drinking protein shakes then that should be ok? I have been losing about a pound a day- it's been 14 days and I have lost 13lbs so far. I too have 1/2 an egg to get some real protein. I am so sick of protein drinks. Ugh! Bring on the Food! I hope you start to loose soon!!!!

Awe...don't cry. It's just a pizza is what I tell myself, and it probably isn't as good as the ones you can make. Besides, think of all the calories, yuck, we are not working hard for nothing! Come on you can do it! You just think your hungry, I stop before I take a drink and think....am I really hungry, no. Then when my protein shake is down, I don't really feel full...but about the same....so I am not hungry like I think I am most of the time. But I have to remind myself to eat and drink just to stay hydrated and keep proteins in me. You'll do better with time....keep up the great work!

Hi there! I was sleeved on Aug. 22' date=' home on Aug. 23. I am doing about like you. I am hungry for "real" food. I am getting my Protein and liquids in. I'm really sore (in fact, on Day 3, this is probably my most sore day). I am very mobile. I just showered, put on makeup and am getting ready for a birthday party. I'm sure I'll be exhausted afterwards. Yesterday, I slept all day. Literally ever four hours would get up and drink and then go right back to bed. I am not shorting myself on the pain meds. I figure they were prescribed and I'm going to take them. In terms of what else to eat, I just had some Greek yogurt and it was AMAZING. It was a little too sweet for me (which is hilarious because I love sweet stuff). I'm going to try the unflavored next.

So far, no BM. I'm trying not to worry yet. I do belch quite a bit.

thanks for the post - nice to have some comparisons!

Best,

With the pain meds it backs up the bms my doc had me take a stool softener 2 a day for 3 days and hello... as for food I was told to do "recreational eating" (chew and spit out) your mouth wants it.... what's funny is after you chew it up really good you really don't want it anymore! And I totally hear you on sweets I can believe my palette has changed so much! I do plain 1/2 cup fage yogurt with about a tbs of honey and cinnamon, I just can't wait to add fresh fruit....

The egg salad is my favorite so far :) Im going to try tuna salad for dinner and see how that goes down. Also watermelon is amazing! I can eat that all day lol' date=' and the no fat refried Beans go down pretty good too :)[/quote']

Omg I am going to try watermelon soon! And I eat my refried beans like soup! Love it

One thing I wanted to share from my postoperative appt today is - I asked if I can combine mush phase with full liquids since I'm drinking strained cream soups. My doc said no and it has nothing to do with stretching my stomach. It has to do with any part of the sleeve stretching and a staple popping. Just wanted to let you know what I learned.

Well, I had my first follow up today, and it was great! My BMI is down 4 points! And I am on to mooshy foods....I told the doctor I am dying for veggies and real fruit and he said to go for it, just mash them up! So I am all over that. But still need to get my protein in. Water consumption is the hardest thing for me, but I am working on that. I also got the go ahead to get back to the gym as long as I wait to work on my upper torso until I hit 6 weeks! So all and all, I had a great check up. I absolutely love my doctor and his staff,....I wish everyone could go to him! They all are sooo great!

August 2nd here! 22 lbs down since surgery. Feeling great.

That is awesome great job! You and I are at the same lb. Loss!

I was sleeved on August 1st! Guess what?

I can put my own shoes without feeling like I'm dying...

No more stress incontinence....

Goodbye Diabetes!

Best of all I'm not obsessing on food anymore....

I started at 257....pre op diet got me to 243...this morning I weighed 214.5lbs

I'm even starting to see body parts I haven't seen in over a decade... Back pain and foot pain are a thing of the past...

Feeling good!
