August Sleevers...how are you doing? Any friends near Monterey?

Well, I did it. I am relieved it's over and I can get on with the new me.... The doctor/surgeon was amazing! The regular hospital medical staff was less to be desired. but ka sa ra sa ra.... My shoulder hurts from gas coming up I am told, ouch. My arm and hand hurt from where the IV's were put in, yes twice, and neither time was good. My side hurts like the dickens where the tubing was put in, but as for the rest. (But there wasn't any real pain taking it out, just a small pinch at the end) My stomach has no pain. I am sore, and still can't bend, but I am walking a lot, short amounts but often. I am dying to eat, anything that is not in sloppy cream of wheat form and can't wait to get back to my fresh fruit and veggies. So far I have tried Designer Whey, and hate it- I don't like vanilla I guess. I am not a fan of unjury either. I do ok with Muscle milk light. I am lactose intolerant and have to be careful with that. But I do like, no love the Chicken Broth, called "Chicken Bouillon Herbox Instand Broth and Seasoning" comes in small packets, it is gluten free and no msg. Looked on line and can buy in a box at Walmart. These are packets that the hospital gave me, and the only thing I had at every meal. So check them out if you need something different. I have lowered my pain meds by only 1/3 of was was recommended and feel I can be done with it all in another day or two. Which makes me happy. Hate taking that stuff, unless really needed. Anyone else frustrated with the waiting part? Anyone else feeing so good after such a short time? I was Sleeved on the 19th (Monday) and sent home 21st (Wednesday) this week. Anyone find something other than shakes to eat. Right now I am living on Ensure chocolate pudding and this Chicken broth it seems like. Of course water and hot tea. Any suggestions? Any one else in the same boat? Write me- love to hear how your doing too! Blessings for quick recoveries for all of us who have braved this major step in our lives!

First, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU...... for writing and telling me I am not alone out here..... it feels good to hear that everyone is doing good although there are minor struggles along the way. I am doing better- I made an official decision to have 1/2 a soft boiled egg with 1/2 tsp of mayo, (about 3 days ago) just so I could get some protein in me. I hate the shakes, and sick of cream of wheat, so I figured this was ok, super soft, chew until it's like water, and swallow. Doesn't upset my tummy, I feel better because I am getting protein in each day now. Where I was down to water and chicken broth because I didn't like anything else. I know, suck it up and just do it, but I can't. I only like chocolate, not fake strawberry and the vanilla is just gross to me. So that's where I am, chicken broth, cream of wheat, 1/2 soft smoosh egg, water, tea, and juice. I don't get to see my dr until the 6th, so I am waiting impatiently to hear the magic words...."Purees are ok". I have a form that the dr gave me, to fill out each day, for my meals, tracking water and keeping track of my weight loss. I like it. I am not usually good at this, but I find it feels good to see that I have spread out my meals (if you can call them that) and get some water in me (more than normal) and watch my weight go down on paper. I have 3 kids, and homeschool so I am really crazy busy, but I keep them in a folder on my bed, so any kid can run and get it for me too! Please put me as a friend if you would like to talk more! Many Blessings- here is to a healthier us!!!

I was sleeved august 20th. Ive been having some issues, every time i eat or drink anything im in immense amounts of pain, then my body starts making gurgling/burping noises. I have my post op appt tomorrow so hopefully they can help figure out what this is.

I was sleeved on August 1st. I'm doing great. I haven't been hungry once since surgery. I've reached my goal of 70 grams of protein and 64 oz. of fluids everyday. I get full pretty easily, and sometimes have to divide my 4 oz meal into 2 meals. I'm having 6 mini meals instead of 3. No regrets... it was the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Ya, I am not hungry, not that is was much of a problem before, but I can tell a big difference. It's like I have to remind myself to eat, well drink, because it's been so long since my last meal.

I was like this the first few days, but it went away. I did put ice packs on my chest and shoulder and stomach, because it felt better then a heating pad. I would have it on for about 10 minutes and then leave it off for an hour and do it again. Sometimes I would alternate with the heating pad, but mostly just ice.

How long did it take before you were able to eat and drink with no problems?

I would say over a week- it took awhile. Sometimes I still feel it, but it's not as bad as it first was. Swallowing hurt so bad, I was thinking I was cured from ever eating again and living on an IV (and I hate IV's). I just have to remember to slow down, not that I was slugging back shots or anything, but it seems my sips need to be kept small and then there is no to little pain.

Sorry your in such pain. I am taking a "Pepcid AC extra strength" acid reducer.. I took it 2x a day for the first week then 1x a day or 2x if needed since then. This helps greatly for me.

I will have to try that, thanks!

I was sleeved on the 15th and was home on the 17th. So far so good. I've been able to finish my protein get my water in and finish my yogurts and cream soups. I don't feel tired, my only complaint is the feeling of heartburn after everything that I eat or drink. The doctor said it was normal and it would pass. I'm also constantly hungry. I don't know if its real hungar or head hungar. Still trying to figure that out. Either way I satisfy that with water or a sugar free popsicle. My incisions are almost healed. No pain with bending or lifting. Cant wait to go back to work soon!

4 days post op, I went for a walk, yea the worse idea ever! Now I am really feeling it! But I am dropping weight so fast that Its scary!

Highest weight: 260

Surgery weight: 247

Current weight: 238

Total loss: 22lbs in 3 weeks! That's two week liquid diet and 4 days post opt!

I had lap band to sleeve on August 21, and I am so hungry, like most of you and sick of all the sweet! I broke down and had a soft scamled egg and had no issues and felt much better after some real protein. I have not lost any weight yet and its been 11 days!! I walk everyday. Liquids go down without any trouble. Any suggestions???

You are suppose to be on liquids for 3 weeks, then mush for 4 weeks then solids! And only 2 ounces of food at a time! If you have not lost any weight it's due to the fact that you are eating solids and skipped the liquid phase all together.. Bottom line you are stretching your stomach back out as if you never had the procedure done at all.. If I was you I would call my surgeons office and tell them you haven't loss weight and what you are eating! Because most people have their greatest loss in the first 2 weeks! And average 25-30lbs loss in that time frame! Well good luck I hope it works out!
