August Sleevers...how are you doing? Any friends near Monterey?

Well, I did it. I am relieved it's over and I can get on with the new me.... The doctor/surgeon was amazing! The regular hospital medical staff was less to be desired. but ka sa ra sa ra.... My shoulder hurts from gas coming up I am told, ouch. My arm and hand hurt from where the IV's were put in, yes twice, and neither time was good. My side hurts like the dickens where the tubing was put in, but as for the rest. (But there wasn't any real pain taking it out, just a small pinch at the end) My stomach has no pain. I am sore, and still can't bend, but I am walking a lot, short amounts but often. I am dying to eat, anything that is not in sloppy cream of wheat form and can't wait to get back to my fresh fruit and veggies. So far I have tried Designer Whey, and hate it- I don't like vanilla I guess. I am not a fan of unjury either. I do ok with Muscle milk light. I am lactose intolerant and have to be careful with that. But I do like, no love the Chicken Broth, called "Chicken Bouillon Herbox Instand Broth and Seasoning" comes in small packets, it is gluten free and no msg. Looked on line and can buy in a box at Walmart. These are packets that the hospital gave me, and the only thing I had at every meal. So check them out if you need something different. I have lowered my pain meds by only 1/3 of was was recommended and feel I can be done with it all in another day or two. Which makes me happy. Hate taking that stuff, unless really needed. Anyone else frustrated with the waiting part? Anyone else feeing so good after such a short time? I was Sleeved on the 19th (Monday) and sent home 21st (Wednesday) this week. Anyone find something other than shakes to eat. Right now I am living on Ensure chocolate pudding and this Chicken broth it seems like. Of course water and hot tea. Any suggestions? Any one else in the same boat? Write me- love to hear how your doing too! Blessings for quick recoveries for all of us who have braved this major step in our lives!

Bookworm,

Congrats! Good for you. I was looking at your ticker and you are nearly halfway there. I am also experiencing the little unexpected joys along this journey such as easily taking three flights of stairs without breaking a sweat. I'm starting to see some body definition too and the shoe thing is awesome isn't it?

  • 3 weeks later...

Thank you Lady Jay!

As of the last two weeks I have hit a MAJOR stall... Kinda freaking out over it... No inches lost... No weight loss...

Anyone else if my fellow August sleevers experiencing this?

We are surgery date buddies :) I got so sock of the protein shakes my body actually started rejecting them, so now I eat egg salad or chicken salad to help. How is your liquid intake? Mine went good the first few days, but now it hurts to drink liquids, food doesnt bother me but even half an ounce hurts!

Amen! I am so sick of protein shakes myself! UGH!!! I can't stand most of them anymore because I think I have had too many, their too sweet now.... My biggest problem now is getting the amount of protein the doctor says to get in....not happening even close, and it's not that I am not trying.... I am only getting about half. Anytime I have meat, beef, chicken or turkey- it gives me killer heart burn....and 3 oz, forget it, I can't even eat that, 0.5 to 1.5 oz, is all I can actually eat, drives me crazy when I know I use to eat a big mac and just love it!! ahh the memories, lol. I think my mind and my body are at war right now, and I am stuck in the middle....I hope things come to a peace treaty soon.....

I am feeling this. This is my fourth week stall. I want to cry I feel like I have wasted my money :(

Oh, don't cry!!!! I went on vacation for 2 1/2 weeks, and gained 5 lbs...but when I got home, I got back to my walking, even walked a little extra and a week later I was down 7 pounds... so it's ok...every body is different. I have been holding at 220 for a few days, just dropped that one pound today...so I would go weekly and not daily in checking weight, also, each week I add a little more exercise, so I am constantly pushing myself to do more, walk an extra block or do 10 more of this or that.... don't give up!!!

Buff, I know it's hard not to be down. I went thru a 2 week stall a couple weeks ago which finally broke. Are you getting enough water, protein and calories?

I am trying. I am concerned I might b getting too many calories if that is even possible so I have been tracking my meals on my fitness pal. Today my calories are split evenly between fat/carbs and protein I have hit around 1000 cals.I started with a lower bmi and I have 1 stone 7lb left to lose - or 21lb if you are in US. I know that this is a tool but I thought that I could relax around food and have something of what I fancy from time to time but I don't think I can get away with it. ????

I was sleeved 8/21 and have not lost for at least a month! I'm discouraged as well. I am only on the scale once a week now. I get plent of protein, walk, might not get all the water I should.

Sleeved 8/26

I have not been getting all my Water, Protein and Vitamins in...

I started this whole process back in May- where my highest weight was at 229

I am now at 168-

I feel very hungry and I'm having a hard time eating slowly so I've been experiencing the sliming effect this week- I know I need to eat slow but it is very hard for me to do because I am an on-the-go type of person...always on the clock!

I am loving the way my body has changed- my brother in law said I looked like a whole different person and it felt good to hear that- I might add that I'm actually wearing some cute little tight jeans that make me feel kinda "sexy"- haven't had that feeling in forever-

I weigh in once a week so we'll see where I'm at tomorrow...

I'm also struggling with this whole not drinking 30 minutes before/after a meal...

Never realized how difficult it would be to adjust to this new lifestyle...

I like the app "Lose It" I can log everything, food & exercise and it shows me a daily cal/fat/protein %. It goes off a 2lb a week loss at most, but I can go in and fix the daily calorie intake, so I am good. My daily allowance for me is 860, but I don't even come close. Im just not hungry. But I really like that I can see those proteins to carbs ratios. You have to have an off day once in a while or splurge on something you love, because life is too short not too. We didn't do this to suffer, we did this to live better, so if you fancy something from time to time, go for it I say.... just do a little extra exercise to make up for it! Hope you feel better!

HEY GUYS!!!! The stall is FINALLY OVER after over two weeks!!!! If anyone is interested, FYI mu calorie goal is 900 but I usually eat beween 900-1200 calories..however I do frequent the gym to earn those extra calories... So I net about 500 calories appoximately...

If you hit a stall DO NOT BECOME DISCOURAGED... it will pass...

And yes I too get bored of Protein powders (NO MORE chocolate powder ew!) But Syntrax makes a bunch of good flavors that are nice to switch up...My fave right now is fuzzy orange and the latte one.... Most of my food is lean meat...It fills me up... and I am not eating simple carbs that I am addicted to...like rice or Pasta...

rice is the devil in food disguise as far as it goes for me...

I am so glad that stall is over... It sucks knowing weight loss won't be as easy as it was in the beginning, but I won't stop till I lose that 100 lbs! For me that means logging ALL my food, taking all my Vitamins, workout at least 40m minutes of cardio at least 6 times a week and eat protein as my main food source... AND not giving up when I have a bad eating day or haven't seen any losses for awhile...

WE CAN DO THIS

How long was your stall? I think I've been taking in too few calories thinking that would make the scale move MORE. . . Errr that was a negative. Glad to see your stall has passed.

My stall was fun September 26 till around yesterday... And I tried everything to make it go again... Fewer calories, more time at the gym, more protein... Etc... But I think it's just a matter of sticking it through... For me, the key is not getting discouraged... I would see pounds come off like nothing at first and now it's just gonna take longer...
