August Sleevers...how are you doing? Any friends near Monterey?

Recommended Posts

Hi all. Just wanted to weigh in (pun intended) to say to those who are struggling... ME TOO. I was sleeved on Aug. 22 and am down only 6 lbs. I'm tired and hungry. I have NO trouble getting liquids or food down. My problem is that I still feel hungry after eating 4oz of food (and I'm taking PPI twice a day). I'm also feeling really frustrated by the fact that so many on here seem to track everything they eat, drink, and do in a day on My Fitness Pal. Man! I just don't want to do that! That's why diets never worked for me - I just don't have it in me to keep track of all that, plus 2 busy kids, plus a full time job, etc. etc. I know I'm just venting and I'm hoping this too shall pass as this becomes more "normal." That said, today I am angry and frustrated (and really frickin' emotional - cry at the drop of a hat). Let's hang in there and keep supporting each other!

First, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU...... for writing and telling me I am not alone out here..... it feels good to hear that everyone is doing good although there are minor struggles along the way. I am doing better- I made an official decision to have 1/2 a soft boiled egg with 1/2 tsp of mayo, (about 3 days ago) just so I could get some Protein in me. I hate the shakes, and sick of cream of wheat, so I figured this was ok, super soft, chew until it's like Water, and swallow. Doesn't upset my tummy, I feel better because I am getting protein in each day now. Where I was down to water and chicken broth because I didn't like anything else. I know, suck it up and just do it, but I can't. I only like chocolate, not fake strawberry and the vanilla is just gross to me. So that's where I am, chicken broth, cream of wheat, 1/2 soft smoosh egg, water, tea, and juice. I don't get to see my dr until the 6th, so I am waiting impatiently to hear the magic words...."Purees are ok". I have a form that the dr gave me, to fill out each day, for my meals, tracking water and keeping track of my weight loss. I like it. I am not usually good at this, but I find it feels good to see that I have spread out my meals (if you can call them that) and get some water in me (more than normal) and watch my weight go down on paper. I have 3 kids, and homeschool so I am really crazy busy, but I keep them in a folder on my bed, so any kid can run and get it for me too! Please put me as a friend if you would like to talk more! Many Blessings- here is to a healthier us!!!

I was sleeved on August 1st. I'm doing great. I haven't been hungry once since surgery. I've reached my goal of 70 grams of Protein and 64 oz. of fluids everyday. I get full pretty easily, and sometimes have to divide my 4 oz meal into 2 meals. I'm having 6 mini meals instead of 3. No regrets... it was the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Ya, I am not hungry, not that is was much of a problem before, but I can tell a big difference. It's like I have to remind myself to eat, well drink, because it's been so long since my last meal.

I was like this the first few days, but it went away. I did put ice packs on my chest and shoulder and stomach, because it felt better then a heating pad. I would have it on for about 10 minutes and then leave it off for an hour and do it again. Sometimes I would alternate with the heating pad, but mostly just ice.

How long did it take before you were able to eat and drink with no problems?

I would say over a week- it took awhile. Sometimes I still feel it, but it's not as bad as it first was. Swallowing hurt so bad, I was thinking I was cured from ever eating again and living on an IV (and I hate IV's). I just have to remember to slow down, not that I was slugging back shots or anything, but it seems my sips need to be kept small and then there is no to little pain.

Sorry your in such pain. I am taking a "Pepcid AC extra strength" acid reducer.. I took it 2x a day for the first week then 1x a day or 2x if needed since then. This helps greatly for me.

I was sleeved on the 15th and was home on the 17th. So far so good. I've been able to finish my Protein get my Water in and finish my yogurts and cream Soups. I don't feel tired, my only complaint is the feeling of heartburn after everything that I eat or drink. The doctor said it was normal and it would pass. I'm also constantly hungry. I don't know if its real hungar or head hungar. Still trying to figure that out. Either way I satisfy that with water or a sugar free popsicle. My incisions are almost healed. No pain with bending or lifting. Cant wait to go back to work soon!

I had lap band to sleeve on August 21, and I am so hungry, like most of you and sick of all the sweet! I broke down and had a soft scamled egg and had no issues and felt much better after some real Protein. I have not lost any weight yet and its been 11 days!! I walk everyday. Liquids go down without any trouble. Any suggestions???

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
