Can't Lose Anymore Weight! :'(

Recommended Posts

I had surgery June 20th of this year so it has beeb a month and half since surgery. I find it a challenge to take my meds daily because something in my combo is making me sooo ill. I exercise 5-6 times a week for 30-45 mins. I try to eat enough to reach 1200 cal a day...this is a REAL challenge for me too. Drinking enough Water is another chore. I feel like such a failure! At first I was losing weight. Now I've hit a wall. I'm not even 2 months out from surgery and for the past two weeks I haven't really been able to lose any weight. Some of my friends say that I've probably gained muscle so that is probably why I haven't lost weight. I find this hard to believe. At this point I don't know what to do to keep going. I'm really discouraged. I feel like I have failed and I've only begun.

From everything I've read, this is normal. You're in a stall. don't give up, just keep eating right, exercising and be patient. Even without the sleeve, it's normal to hit plateaus. You can and will do this :)

Keep you're Water intake up to flush the toxins out. The Water intake is usually a huge part of any weight loss.

Your friends could be right! Muscle DOES weigh more than fat but muscle will also burn more calories! Hang in there and keep it up!!! The weight will start to fall off! :D

Are you losing inches? It is a better indicator of FAT loss. During my year and a half of weight loss I stalled, went up, and went down so many times I got bored and quit paying attention to it.

If you are an earthling the fat will come off if you do the core things: Water, Protein first, exercise, Fiber, rest, Vitamins.

If you are not an earthling, welcome! :D

It's a normal stall. You will lose again. Keep up the good work

Stop. Breath. Calm. It's been a month and a half. You haven't stopped losing. Your body is working hard trying to repair and build muscle. It's still healing from surgery. You're doing all the right things to get it healthy. The weight will fall off. Stop obsessing over a number. How much weight have you lost already?

I know it's hard to be patient after having a major surgery to lose weight, but patience is key to have an enjoyable journey.

I was sleeved two days before. I hit a two week stall in week 3 and 4. Guess what? The scale started moving again! Yours will move too! We are not the first and we are not the last to hit stalls, and we will definitely see some more. You are NOT a failure! You won the moment you decided to change your life for the better! We are bound to struggle, wobble, and fall sometimes, but we get back up and try again. There is no way you cannot lose weight with the amount of restriction we have. You CAN do this...you WILL do this!!!!!

I stalled for an entire month just two weeks after surgery. You won't lose weight every day.. or every week... or maybe not even every month.. but the weight WILL come off.

Well...lately things haven't been going as well as I would have hoped. I felt as though things had gotten better. But I had a couple of very stressful weeks dealing with my son. Now that I've received some help with that....I know that I'm off track. How do you get back on track to reaching your goals and you know you don't want to fail. I CAN NOT go backwards!!!

We've all been there. It's tough! Just pick a day to start back and DO it! The good thing about it is we can start again. You've come too far to go backwards! I know about stress and how it can cause you to derail. Don't let it. Decide to do this for yourself no matter what! You'll do great!

Hey hi, THANK YOU so much for your question. I had my surgery 7/28/14 and believe me when I was reading your question I thought that was me. Ive hit a stall once again, and doing everything just like you.

I will continue to do what i'm doing and going to wait for the weight to fall off. I know i'm losing only because my clothes is loose and gone down a couple of sizes. But it is true we are building muscle. Again thank you for asking that question. I am happy to say that we will start losing the weight.

Have a great day!

I too also had a stall. I tried what was recommended and it worked for me. I drank Protein Shakes 30gr ones for Breakfast, lunch and dinner for two days. Breakfast and lunch with a regular dinner for three more days. I starting losing again. Stalls are normal but frustrating.

Stalls and I have a long standing relationship of hate. I think everybody hates stalls but they come and go which is very normal. During this time your body is rearranging things and sometimes you lose inches rather than fat. I would just keep all the good work you are doing it shall pass soon enough. On Oct. 20th I will be a month away from being a year out and I have hit yet another stall. It drives me insane every time. Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
