HELP! Can't Lose Weight!

Recommended Posts

I had surgery June 20th of this year so it has beeb a month and half since surgery. I find it a challenge to take my meds daily because something in my combo is making me sooo ill. I exercise 5-6 times a week for 30-45 mins. I try to eat enough to reach 1200 cal a day...this is a REAL challenge for me too. Drinking enough Water is another chore. I feel like such a failure! At first I was losing weight. Now I've hit a wall. I'm not even 2 months out from surgery and for the past two weeks I haven't really been able to lose any weight. Some of my friends say that I've probably gained muscle so that is probably why I haven't lost weight. I find this hard to believe. At this point I don't know what to do to keep going. I'm really discouraged. I feel like I have failed and I've only begun.

Don't get discouraged I was sleeved on the 18th and find it hard to stick to a routine. My schedule is so busy lately I can't fit in my 3 day a week gym time. Wt loss has been slow but I have lost some inches. The day of surgery I weighed 286 and today I am 266. I know people who have lost more than I have but 20 pounds in a month and a half is awesome so I won't complain and I feel better also. The wt loss will come just take it one day at a time. Don't focus on the numbers try measuring yourself and see how many inches you've lost.

Be patient with yourself, I get regular stalls, even early on and each time I get down myself. Then the scale moves again and I feel my confidence return. Almost 65 pounds in 4 1/2 months, I may not be the fastest loser but I could never have done this without my sleeve.

Hang in there, you didn't fail. Sounds like it could be a stall. Just keep working on meeting your requirements, and the loss will come. There is lots of advice on this forum regarding stalls, and you're right in the window where one of the big ones usually hits. Whatever you do, don't get discouraged and start making bad choices, this is only temporary. Your body just needs a break to reset itself for continued loss.

As Others have said you are most likely just in the normal stall that occurs around 1 month post op. It is very important to try to get enough Fluid and Protein in, without those 2 primary things your weight loss will slow down. Good Luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
