Burping and sign of fullness

Recommended Posts

Vets...do you still burp? I had surgery 2 years ago in May and ever since then my burps have changed. It's like I hardly burp, it's a really tiny amount of air that comes out. It's not even anything that anyone else can hear, I can just feel it happening. I physically cannot burp a normal burp no matter what I do. Wondering if this has changed for any other vets.

The little tiny burp that I have is also my sign that I am full and it's time to stop eating even if I don't feel totally full. My nose also runs. It has been this way from the beginning. Do you still have a sign of fullness? I am wondering if having a sign of fullness will eventually go away or if it will be with me for the long haul.

I think the decreased burping is due to us having less air in our tummies. We chew very well and take small bites, so we are swallowing less air while eating. I know what you mean by "...just feel it happening"! I get little air bubbles all the time (while drinking or eating), and it's usually a sign that I'm eating or drinking too fast. I sometimes pat on my chest a bit to bring the air up.

I still get a runny nose! I never had that symptom associated with fullness pre-op, but I most definitely have it now.

I do burp lots more than I used to. Everyone in my family has commented. Thank goodness they are small burps. I do not burp or hiccup when full like some do. I burp later, sometimes hours later.

Tummy rumbling and embarrassing farts also have disappeared just about. Somewhere a little further out. Maybe by year two?

I don't remember the last time I burped. I thought it was because I never have sodas anymore. My sleeve does make weird noises from time to time.....like it's trying to call the mother ship some days.

As for farting, mine hasn't increased but my wife's gasses have increased tremendously since she started the paleo diet. Holy mother.....has it ever.

Oh my word! I can remember at one of my last massages being mortified because my stomach made these horrific gurgling noises the WHOLE TIME! She said, "You must really be hungry!" I just kinda laughed and thought, "If you only knew!" lol

I don't burp - I hiccup - 7-8 times if I get the least bit full

So it sounds like some burp and some don't, but we are fart...lol. Seriously though, I am wondering why I can't burp. I guess it doesn't really bother me. Even if I swallow some air the air comes back out but it's not really a burp like it used to be. I'm not trying to be gross or funny, just trying to figure out why my body doesn't make a noise and let out a good burp.

The noise in my stomach isn't nearly as loud as it used to be. That seemed to calm down for me about 6 months ago. Once in if I eat something that doesn't sit right it will start rumbling in there. Still no burp though!

I do burp sometimes, but the weirdest thing is sometimes right after I swallow it feels like a stream of tiny bubbles works their way up. It makes a small noise but I'm not sure if anyone else notices.

If I get too full, it affects my speaking voice. And I hiccup a few times, which is pretty uncomfortable.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
