Band to Sleeve in TEXAS? Doc referrals DfW area or Denton?

Recommended Posts

Dr provost talked to me about the band but I was wanting the sleeve. My daughter had the band and is yo-yoing with the weight loss. I have liver disease

and just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in april.

I researched the sleeve and for me that's what I wanted. On the way out of the consultation with dr. Provost he said " good decision" the appt. didn't even last 20 minutes.

Ohhh Debra that's terrible!!!

Have you already had the revision? Band to sleeve and where you happy with Dr.provost as a surgeon? It's sad when you have a good doc an the staff sucks. At least with the sleeve there isn't much follow up unlike the band. I'm glad he didn't try to convince you to so to the GB. Do you happen to know how many band to sleeve revisions he has done and did he do it in one surgery for you?

I'm sorry you are having trouble with staff maybe you should ask Dr.P who HE would like to refer too since his staff doesn't have an answer for you. :)

I never had the band to sleeve revision. I got into the wrong forum. Still trying to figure out the forum. Good luck on your surgery.

Has anyone had band to sleeve revision done in Texas. I wanted to get opinions on some doctors.

Dr. Provost or Dr. Cribbins

Those are the two I am considering but open to others - can get personal opinions from people that have had this done in the Plano' date=' Dallas or Denton area.

Thank you[/quote']

Did you find a doctor?

If you want a doctor that has done a lot of revisions- Dr. Barker would be high on the list in DFW. He's a HUGE Practice, but he's a good guy and a dang good surgeon. Dr. hodges who works with him actually took out my gallbladder in 07 before she was working with Dr. Barker and she was AMAZING!

I used Dr. Kim. He and his staff are extremely professional. I felt I was in good hands.

Dr. Cribbins did my band 10 years ago. going for a revision to sleeve in three weeks. Dr. Cribbins does revision in one surgery. Dr. Nicholson does it in two surgeries one week apart. not sure why because the cut is made around the scar tissue from the band and not through it. Dr. Cribbins is the best. No doubt! I believe Dr. Cribbins is the director of Bariatric surgery at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano.

My surgery won't be till Feb 2014. Doing insurance and provost paper work and testing. And learning everything I can on the processes and surgery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
