Starting a grocery list for Stage 1/2 What do you suggest?

Recommended Posts

Surgery is Aug 26th and I'm starting to get ready.....making a list for food, storage containers (since I will have to take food to work). This is for pre surgery and post surgery. Can anyone suggest things that they have bought that have worked? I plan on using a lot of baby food because it will be the easiest to take work....did anyone else go this route?

I love my BariWare lunch box (bariware.com) - it's perfect for bringing a variety of foods to work in small portions, yet all in one container! I also love my shaker bottle - perfect for days I want to bring Protein Powder with me, then add Water later.

I was never keen on the baby food idea--just pureed stuff or mushed it up really well. Some foods that will be good for pureed and mushees are homemade chili (that you can puree when you're there), Greek yogurt (plain), laughing cow soft cheeses, referied Beans (good with the laughing cow cheese), Protein Shakes (Premiere Protein are good), unflavored protein powder in crystal lite, SF flavorings for Water

I also own a small thermos - it was perfect for purees at work!

I never did pureed food, my dr said at that stage you can eat anything soft, just chew it well. I lived mostly on egg drop Soup, dannon light and fit greek yogurt, scrambled eggs, split pea soup, chili (mushed up, not pureed), mashed sweet potatoes, cottage cheese, refried Beans with melted cheese on top, vegetable soup, Tomato Soup, and of course Protein Shakes.< /p>

I'd suggest not buying too much over Protein shakes, broth, pudding, Jello and popsicles. You really do not know what you will love or hate post op. I spent $75 on different SF drink mixes like Crystal Light and can no longer tolerate the taste of aspartame. I bought all kinds of Soups and Protein powders and tuna and canned chicken and it's all sitting there because I couldn't swallow any of it.

Buy baby spoons and cocktail forks, Gatorade if it's allowed, real fruit juice to mix with Water and go from there. You will be up and out soon enough and a good long walk around the grocery will be good for you.

I so agree! I waited and bought morw powders after 2 weeks & I regret it. I can hardly stand the smell of them. Just wait people.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
