Traveling 2 weeks after surgery

Recommended Posts

Hi all I'm new here. I'm so excited to embark on this new journey. My surgeon submitted my paper work to my insurance praying that I get approve because they gave me a surgery date of July 31. Like stated my surgery date is July 31 and my 1 year wedding anniversary is August 12. I would like to take a mini trip to the keys do you guys think that's to soon to be traveling after surgery. I'm in south Florida which is 4 hours from Key West. Want to do something for my anniversary

I traveled for work 2 weeks after surgery from Texas to California. You should be fine. The only thing I had trouble with was making sure I got my Protein Drinks in with having a busy schedule. I was still on full liquids at the time. Also having to go to dinners and such for work was a little difficult watching others eat while I sip on some soup...

I think you could probably do it if you're sure to stay hydrated if it's hot and if you don't totally overdo it with physical activity (though a good bit of walking will be good for you). I would try to stay somewhere with a mini fridge so that you can keep Protein Shakes and what not on hand (I was on full liquid for about 3 weeks post-op). However, if it were me, I might go a couple of weeks before surgery and call it an early anniversary trip. Your energy levels aren't the highest right after surgery generally speaking and you may prefer to be at home resting and focusing on your new part-time job, which will be getting in fluids and Protein. :) I didn't do any food funerals, but if I had been in the Keys before my surgery--I might have chosen to indulge in a slice of pre-op key lime pie at Blue Heaven in Key West.... :)

Six hour train ride 2 weeks after surgery with no issues.. would have been much more enjoyable if the train was going to the Keys rather than Harrisburg, PA. :P

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
