Benadryl is not addictive physiologically but if you have addictive type personality you can be addicted to anything. On cable there's a show called strange addiction and some guy was addicted to blow up pool toys.

Yeah, I don't think I'll be in any trouble with blow up toys... But I'll keep my eyes open on that one.

Aren't Benadryl and Unisom essentially containing the same active ingredient that helps with drowsiness? I am asking this because why take Benadryl when you can take some OTC sleep aid like unisom or NyQuil zzz?

Yep,

Diphenhydramine (Benadryl®, Sominex®, and many other brand names) is an antihistamine medication commonly used for the treatment of allergies and insomnia.

Cheaper??

Can't beat the dollar store!

I slept last night and I took nothing. I woke up a few times but was able to get 7 hours. So happy wanted to share.

I took 2 hydroxyz last night and slept really well, but a bit groggy this morning. Maybe this is going to be me sleep aid of choice as tryptophan worked ok for 1-2 nights with putting me asleep, but did not keep me asleep very well.

Took my Ambian, slept two nights in a row, a bit groggy but lost a pound and a half after a two week stall (and two weeks severe insomnia). Hummmm

Hey Fiddle, I have had difficulties with sleep for quite a few years and have prescriptions from doctors to help with my sleeping and then a receptionist at the doctor's office mentioned Kirkland's Sleep Aide. I bought some when the doctor's prescription didn't help much and it was the best sleep aid I had tried. It's pretty inexpensive too.... :P

Thanks for the suggestion.

I have tried kirklands sleep aid in the past. However, it leaves me groggy all the next day until late afternoon. This was pre surgery so do not know if it still holds true now. Even with the hydroxyzine taken last night ( left over prescription from 1+ year ago), I am still feeling a little zombified now. Most OTC sleep aids are like that for me except unisom. For some reason, unisom gives me sleep and I am alert the next morning. Tonight, I shall try the unisom and see if I can sleep and feel alert in the morning.

I do hate the groggy feeling the next morning too. I am very fortunate that sleep Aide doesn't affect me that way. However, tylenol with cod really does a number on me now....... :P

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
