FWIW...you know the first rule of Fight Club, right? LOL...

I don't think we should mention this group or even allude to it in public threads, cos it will naturally make people feel excluded, even though we have rationale etc. KWIM?

Totally agree...and I love your wit. This weekend I told my vodka soaked nephew's wife that she had a very good vocabulary...vodkabulary! Love play on words.

So we have quite a well traveled group here....located throughout the world. I turn 50 next year and am looking for an epic trip idea...preferably one best served solo. I am thinking Lisbon and Barcelona....other ideas????

I am going back to Mexico to visit my friend in March...she is near Cabos San Lucas. Can't wait but that will be more of a mellow beach trip... I need something worthy of the BIG 5-0!!!!

Geez, It takes forever to get caught up on this thread!

I can delete people from here. I am going to delete any name I don't recognize as ever posting in here. I already deleted someone I love Jesus or something like that.

Susan has not really come back in here to voice her opinion. I definitely don't want anyone else in this group. Period. It's hard enough now to keep up with the thread. Honestly, I don't see why there can't be more than one 5:2 groups.

We can change the name of this group if we feel like it, and agree on something catchy. Like those ladies who wear Red Hats. I'm not saying that's what I want our name to be, just that they are just a group of friends.

This dating stuff is driving me crazy. I don't know how you're doing it, Jane!

I am excited that dorrie wants to move to Oregon. I hope it's close to me.

Can someone put me down for Coos Bay , Oregon? I can't copy and paste right now either. I got a new lap top and I need lessons on windows 8. It really sucks.

Can someone give me a link to the Tummy Tuck picture you're all talking about?

re the TT - my over hang was very similar - my surgeon wouldn't do the anchor style for me because of the scarring - my result isn't 'perfect' but compared to what it was it is bloody good!

The picture of that poor woman's results had me covering my mouth with my hands and gasping, it's that bad. Ragged is the right word for it Sheryl, it looks like the sewing efforts of a jr high home ec class, I hope hope that is just the swelling..

Dee - what does FWIM mean?

Sheryl - I do think the storylines are better developed in Survivors, I was so disappointed there were only like 2 seasons. I totally agree about Sookie, I watch the show for Erik Northman, yumm in every way, sigh. If I could triangulate the characters Erik Northman (TrueBlood), Ben (Parks&Rec), and Channing Tatum's character from Dear John, that would be my perfect fella ^_^.

Let's not forget to add Cheri to the name list, in the hopes she returns.

Sheila - the medical care I can receive here and at the Army hospital in Germany is as good and better than whatever I could scrape up in the States. And as for talking it over with people in my life - you're it. This is where I am putting it, to people who understand all the intricate strands of the issue and who, in the knowing, won't endanger my job.

Sue - I would love to see some more of your sketches...

I'm changing up my 5:2 routine - I am now going to fast on Sat/Sun, since I do Insanity Mon-Fri I need to fuel up on those days and because of logistics here it is easier to not eat on the "weekend" since that would mean trekking in the cold and the bother of the difac.

Sorry, I use too many acronyms LOL!

FWIW = for what it's worth

KWIM = know what I mean?

Florinda, I have to say...if it's not an emergency medical situation (it doesn't seem to be, if you can still do insanity...?), then I would totally stay for the extra money. Take that FWIW ;-) as someone who's been the primary breadwinner for so long, I can't imagine forgoing money if it's available. And I am a worrier about finances, so there's that. ;-)

xoxo

Florinda, tough decisions ahead for you! I don't know what to say. There are pros and cons to both. The medical care seems like a biggie for now. I don't know what I would do. Do any of your coworkers know about the MS?

Dee, hope things are going well for you. Any news on the apartment situation? Are they getting all the work done that needs to be done?

Coops, when I had a consult the surgeon also said the scarring is worse for that kind of incision. I have still thought about going that route because I will never wear a bikini anyway so nobody would see the scar. Hey, Coops, did you wear the dress for your party?

Jane, a trip for turning 50 sounds like fun. I'm not sure where I would go, I have to think about that. You could come to WI...lol:)

Denise, maybe you aren't quite ready to date yet since the break up wasn't that long ago?? I don't have a clue since I'm not in your situation but I certainly can understand how dating could be frustrating! Hang in there.

My fast day yesterday only came in at 400 calories. I had bit intentions of working out last night, a double workout, but around 5 I started feeling sick again with the chills and sinus stuff. So, I just went to bed. I wasn't hungry so I didn't eat anymore. Still feel like I am fighting something today, hope it goes away soon.

Happy Tuesday all!

Sarah, I usually TRY not to fast on my double workout days but I can and I have, it's just not usually preferred for me. After working out for 2 hours I'm usually ready for some Protein for lunch (workout from 10-noon 2 days a week) and on fast days I tend to skip lunch. But I might have to do it today because I had a bit of a bad day yesterday (more on that later).

As far as us being "incognito" I don't think we ever have to mention this thread, but due to the nature of the new site, everytime we POST to this thread, it shows up under the Tab at the Top Labeled "Forums" and then it will "appear" to the right if you hover or click on that tab, over on the right it will say "Recent Topics" and for some reason today there is a lower case a to the right of the word Topicsa. Strange, never noticed that before. So we post. It appears under recent topics. Someone "clicks" on the recent topic of "How was your 5:2 day?" and they are met with the message of this being a private group that they don't have access too. Doesn't MATTER what we change the name to, someone, somewhere will click, be denied and COMPLAIN or WHINE. I'm fine with keeping things just as is (name, etc, people on this thread) and I totally agree with Sheryl (aka Jane).

Florinda, wow, I'm so deeply impressed with how you are handling everything that has been thrown at you, especially regarding your health in the last few months. When do you have to make your decision by?

The photos of Kris and her incisions also had me gasping in pain and sadness. WHAT? I've never seen on that looks so bad. She recently had her breasts done and had a horrible black (something or other) she had a name for it and just was told to wait for it to heal and fall off? Awful, just awful. She has a blog and I've loosely followed her blog from time to time. WOW. That looks horrible, like Florinda said it looks like a jr. high sewing project of someone who has NEVER met a needle and thread. I agree Sheryl, your incisions were so neat and clean.

So debachery yesterday ...Last year after Christmas sale (75% off woo)I bought this awesome set of 4 candy dishes that are arranged on a wooden platter to give to a very good friend of mine. So yesterday I ran to the store and bought some bulk candy to put in the gift. OMG I COULD NOT KEEP MY F'ING HANDS OFF THAT DA*M CANDY. WTF? So I may have to fast today. 2 of the candies were chocolate covered almonds (OMG!) and cinnamon covered almonds. Then there were yogurt covered pretzels and spice drops. Can anyone else recognize my weakness for SALTY and SWEET? SMDH (There's one for ya...shaking my da*m head!!) Sheesh!

On a different note, I have an upcoming event to attend that I need to dress shop for. Headed to ROSS and found 2 dresses and now I can't decide which one to wear. I may have to have your girls opinions if I can EVER find the time to photo myself in both for comparison. It's a New Years Eve wedding at a hotel in Downtown Denver. Lots of fun and so excited...it's a friend of my husband who is marrying again (first wife had 2 boys with him and then she decided to "see" other men...arrgh!) So this new gal he is marrying, well they had a baby GIRL in March of this year (totally adorable baby) and now they are getting married. So fun, the whole family is invited, so of course the girls needed new dresses also. You can't beat Ross for dress prices. One was on $14.99 and the other was on "clearance" for $16.99. See why I bought them both?

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
