I am looking for any advice or suggestions when it comes to Protein intake , I am currently 6 weeks post op and am lucky if I get 20 grams of protein a day , sometimes not even that . I had my surgery on May 29 , 2013 and have lost a little over 40 lbs . All the Protein Shakes I drank before surgery make me sick , and I have found that I am now unable to tolerate milk , cottage cheese and eggs but can handle cheese ok . I have no NUT and I am unsure of what all I can and should be eating at this point and am scared of trying new things and risking a possible throw up session . I am sick of canned chicken , and mashed potatoes :( Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated . I see my dr on the 16 th I am hoping he has a little advice .

Well Protein is the main thing we have to get in as u know. Try tuna, or if u can handle tofu. It has no flavor but you can flavor it any way u like. Or try adding unflavored Protein Powder to your veggies or crystal light , you won't notice but you will get the protein in. Hope this helps.

I found these awesome Protein Drinks. Only 2.9oz but 25g of Protein and 100 cal. They actually taste pretty good too. They're made by Protica. Called Profect. I get them on Amazon.< /p>

Any kind of meat will be a good source of Protein at this point. I used a lot of the canned meats early on, tuna, canned chicken, canned turkey, potted meat, devilled ham. Any kind of beef Jerky, I eat a lot of jack's links jerky products. If you can't tolerate milk you can also try mixing Protein Shakes with Water a lot of them are pretty good that way imo. Remember if you don't get enough protein your body will starting eating muscle tissue to get what it needs, when your muscle mass goes down you won't be able to burn as much fat so your weight loss will slow and you will be increasingly tired and weak. Good Luck.

Have you tried the Quest bars from GNC? I love them and they are good for protein..I eat one everyday...Premier Protein drinks are very good as well..String cheese, etc...You really have to try and get in more protein, it's so important...

You can also try mixing your Protein powder with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. It's dairy and lactose free, and it's only 30 calories for 8 oz.

Tastes really yummy mixed with Syntrax chocolate Truffle Protein powder.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
