Getting Sick or sorry to say...Vomit?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone been sick since having the sleeve done? Is it harder on your body, then before? Does it hurt to vomit, can you vomit? I tend to get sick from time to time (usually winter  ), I have a weak immune system and I was wondering about these things?

Good question, I was wondering the same thing! Like if you get the stomach bug, I have 4 kids and every year it goes thru the house so I was wondering if it makes a difference like u said.

Oh good, I am not the only one with kids stressing about this? In fact, I weighed in at 264 just two weeks ago, before we had a nasty stomach bug run through our house! It was awful.

Yes....this was a huge deal to me. I have three kids and they are always bringing home some sort of intestinal bug.

Anyways to answer your question....yes I have gotten the stomach flu since being sleeved. Actually the bug was not as bad as before having the sleeve. I got the dry heeves a lot...which sucked....but I would try to suck down some Water quickly and then I would have something in my tummy to vomit up. Vomit does not have that horrible taste to me anymore...I guess because I don't have so many acid pumps as before so not much stomach acid in there to make it burn and such.

In all your sleeve can handle it just fine...I would recommend avoiding anyone with a stomach virus for a couple of months while your new tummy is healing though! :)

I am 7 week post op and I have thrown up after eating meat multiple times. It feels pretty much the same. The only major difference is what comes up (besides bits of food) is a white spit looking bike. That is the gross thing. It's foamy and makes you want to throw up more. Other than that it's the exact same! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
