Good songs to work out to...

Anyone have any songs they love to groove to while working out?

Me:

Survivor - Eye of the Tiger

Irene Cara - theme song from Flashdance

Fugazi, Nine Inch Nails, Prodigy, Justin Timberlake, Social D, Supersuckers, Shiny Toy Guns.... just a few that are on my iPod.

Anything with a good beat get's me going!

Here is my most recent workout playlist, I actually put a lot of thought into these because it's the only think that gets me through the cardio portion of my routine!!!!!

1.OK Go: Here it Goes Again (that treadmill song from the Utube video)

2.Blur: Song 2 ( Its that one where they yell WHOO HOOO)

3.Aqua: Barbie Girl (So cheezy it's good)

4.Destiny's Child: Lose my Breath (Appropriate about 4 songs in :girl_hug:

5.Mighty Mighty Bosstones: Thats the Impression that I get (good brass)

6.George Michael: Faith (Too bad he plays for the other team :girl_hug:

7.Vanessa Carlton: Paint it Black (the MOST motivating song for me,

always in the middle of my workout, don't know why it works?)

8.Tia Carrerre: Ballroom Blitz (From Waynes World)

9.U2: Elevation (Also very motivating)

10.Ashlee Simpson: La La ("I like it better when it hurts" Works for me)

11.Right Said Fred: I'm too Sexy (Comedy for my workout slump)

12.Pearl Jam: Once (Just to get that Eddie Vedder Rocker vibe)

13.Christina Aguilera: Stronger (who wouldn't get pumped?)

14.Melissa Ethridge: I Run for Life (Always gives me goosebumps)

15.Black Eyed Peas: My Humps (Cause I have some serious humps)

16.Cake: I Will Survive (He uses the F word which is what Im thinking at the end of my workout)

17.Nina Simone: Feeling Good (An amazing jazzy cool down)

Hope this helps someone! :)

I've been going through the imixes on itunes. I haven't downloaded any total mixes but there are a lot of workouts (both by individuals and guided mixes with professional trainers and athletes). At this point, it has just given me some ideas on songs to include in my playlists.

A bit embarassing, but my old standby workout mix is Rick Springfield Greatest Hits. It reminds me of some younger years so, in addition to a pretty good pace, it always puts a grin on my face. :nervous

yeah, where are these imixes? Let all of us non cool people know how to find those, hopefully with step by step instructions for the computer disabled.

I have to admit I stumbled across these by accident. I was looking at the nikeplus.com site. I'm a gadget geek and love the idea of integrating my ipod and some device in my shoe that tracks my workout. I don't have a nano though so I'm out of luck.

I did start looking at the celebrity trainer playlists on their site which are all housed on itunes.com. Here is essentially the different paths that led me to workout mixes on itunes.

For all, start at the itunes music store and click on Music. In the box, More in Music...

1. itunes Essentials. search "workout"

These are probably my favorite mixes of them all...a real variety but some have way too many songs which drives up the price.

These other categories work the same way...just search on "workout", "yoga", etc.

2. Nike Sport Music

3. itunes Collections

4. imixes

I always watch the upper right side when I get search results to see what others are buying or playing. That has led me to the Power Workout in the Pop music section for instance.

Hope this helps.

does anyone use limewire?

I use it, i'm more into downloading torrents tho and getting an entire discography vs single songs now.

If you use limewire, kazaa, bearshare..etc to get your songs, i highly suggest you d/l peerguardian to use in conjunction to prevent you getting busted by the RIAA or any of their counterparts and also set your p2p program to turn off sharing..

It works on the packet level so it will block any incoming connection based on the IP address of that peer your attempting to share with or share from.

BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY THIS, when I first got peerguardian and looked at the list of ip's blocked when i tried to d/l certain songs from limewire I was in shock...everything from certain law firms to the DoD (dept of defense), so when you don't think anyone is paying attention to little ol you downloading a song here or there or sharing songs...DON'T BET ON IT.

Granted you have a better chance of getting hit by a bolt of lightning vs getting sued by the RIAA....it still something i would consider mandatory using when d/l'd pirated anything.

Take it from someone who knows and also works for an ISP. :o
