Carrabas Italian Restaurant

I want to scream!!! I have to practice restraint. I am pre-op and I have been workin very hard to lose weight before vsg. I am on my way to a birthday celebration of my brother in law. I love him dearly and will not miss any celebration that he is having. However Italian is one of my weaknesses and I have been doing really well lately. Will it be so wrong to have a bit of Pasta and pass on the butter glazed garlic breads? I keep telling myself "Moderation, everything in moderation"! Then I hear the small devil saying "go ahead and treat yourself", but with my poor habits a treat day will turn into a treat week, then a treat month, and so on.

You can try finding a dish that s lower carbs and skip the bread. Also go ahead and tell the waiter to bring you a box and put at least half in it. Those are some of the things I would do. But it looks like your surgery is a couple of out so if you don't go overboard it should be ok. Hang n there hon, u will have a lot of food decisions to make between now and your surgery. Just try to make mostly good ones :)

Try the chicken Bryan (it's delicious) and instead of a side of Pasta, get steamed veggies, lentil Soup or chicken soup instead of cesar salad. It's still fattening but so good and probably better than pasta dish. Also re-op, I started getting a to go box quickly so I coud immediately pack away half my meal to avoid picking on it after I am satisfied.

I love love love their salad with grilled veggies on top. Sometimes I add cheese (I'm a vegetarian), but I think you can get it with grilled chicken. I have come to think of Pasta as tasteless, a waste of space (I'm post-op), yucky/gummy, and low bang for the buck given its lack of nutritional value. I feel so good putting a healthful tasty salad in my body instead. And everyone at the table will probably look at your salad longingly, wishing they had ordered it. You will feel great after eating it, too! I would pass on the bread or maybe have half a piece with the dipping oil bc that's the best part (since you are pre-op--post-op, you won't want it). You can get a side of sautéed spinach with garlic (not sure if it's on the menu, but they will do it), which is sooo good and good for you. Most of all, I hope you enjoy your time with your loved ones!

If you are like most of us, you can only eat a few bites..last time I went there, I ordered the crab cake appetizer, with an extra cup of sauce. I ate almost all of one, and took the other home with the cup of sauce for the next day! I always order Water with a lemon/lime so I wont be the only one without a drink.

I immediately asked for a carryout. I ordered the Wood Grill Salmon with grilled veggies. I packed half of my meal in the carry out and had no bread or Pasta. Yayyy for me!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
