OMG - The barium swallow was horrific! It made me nauseated almost immediately and I was nauseous for a whole day! But' date=' on the bright side, I know that my new tummy has no leaks and I am really happy about that![/quote']

Luckily I didn't have to deal with that. My surgeon basically does a pressure test during the surgery so that worst case scenario he could fix it before closing me back up.

Wow, you're really lucky. The barium swallow test is just nasty. Thank goodness it was just a few sips.

I'm tolerating liquids, getting my protein and walking but the problem I'm having is I have an itchy rash all over my body and its driving me crazy! I've scratched so much I drew blood. The dr. Said he didn't want to give me any medicine since I need to focus on my recovery and didn't want any medicines that may cause side effects. He said to wait it out and apply anti itch lotion its nothing to worry about.. This is by far the worst feeling I've had.

I am on the 26th. Had to have scope and they found a mass, so insc will pay 100%

Iam two weeks out feeling good but hungry :-( ! I just got the rash also on my hands only. I see my doctor monday. My rash is hard to see but can feel it and it itches like crazy.

What are you all doing to recuperate? If you are returning back to work' date=' when? I'm at home for two weeks watching a bunch of movies, walking around and trying to get the liquid and Protein in. And I'll be back to work on July 22nd.[/quote']

I had surgery July 2nd and am going back to wrk July 16th, exactly 2 weeks. Still going to be careful lifting, etc.. for a few weeks. Pretty much like you, I stayed home, made a few trips to Walmart, just to get out of house. I did walk a lot in the house and outside when it wasn't raining. I write down all my liquid, protein, carb intake just to make sure... I'm doing great but TIRED of drinking... Looking forward to purée and soft stage. Weighed this am.... 15 lbs since surgery morning!! So excited! Good luck and Congrats to you!

Best wishes with the diagnosis.

How are you feeling

I had my first week check up! Got cleared for full liquids for a week, then purée, then soft!!! I can't wait for scrambled eggs!!!!

I can't wait for purees next week! ! I'm getting tired of full liquids.

You both are lucky. I'm on full liquids for two more weeks.

I'm on clear liquids for one more week then purée! I can't wait!

So strange the difference between doctors. Sleeved on 7/8 and liquids since then, start puréed tomorrow. Yay!!!

Yes doctors are so different .....I'm on clear liquids for the last week ... On friday I go to full liquids for 2weeks

I have my one-week post-op class tomorrow and my post-op with the doc on Thursday. I am supposed to be on liquids until next wednesday, when I have my post-op dietary class. Then I can start on soft proteins. I am getting in about 2 full shakes a day, and about 48 oz of water. plus one SF jello cup, and about a 1/3 can of cream of something soup (very watered down) at dinnertime. I don't know if I can make it a whole nother week on liquids! After liquids our doctor has us do "mushies" for SIX WEEKS!! That seems a bit extreme for me, but I will see what is on the list for mushies. I know it's soft proteins, some examples they gave were refried beans, eggs, soft cheeses, soups, cottage cheese and greek yogurt.

On the other hand, I have been back to driving since yesterday - had to take the kiddos to girl scout camp, which is about 1/2 hour away. One hour trip back and forth. I went a little crazy yesterday and did all kinds of errands after drop-off and I was definately feeling it last night. But not enough for pain meds. Just felt it. Today I had PTA paperwork and stuff to do, so I took it a bit easier.
