Chinese Food Allowed?

Recommended Posts

I love shrimp with lobster sauce. After sleeving, will this yummy dish turn into a "memory" for me or can I eat it?

I had Chinese food (chicken and broccoli) this past Saturday and I didn't have a problem. I didn't find it AS enjoyable as I did before surgery, but it was still good. As long as your stomach and tastebuds agree with it, you'll be able to have it again.

I eat any Chinese food that doesn't involve fried, or rice or noodles. Lobster sauce might not be the best choice, but shrimp and vegetables, really good. Steamed bok choy with garlic, excellent. A little Goi bo with a health dash of sirachi is way good (okay that's Vietnamese but still). You'll figure out what the best choices are. Most decent Chinese places are really good at tailoring meals. In fact way better than most American restaurants.

I ate some chicken/broccoli at 6 weeks post op and I was in horrible pain and threw up violently. Each person is different. Just baby steps. Most things I enjoyed before font taste as good as they once did. Honestly- I now (at 12 weeks) crave clean foods. Watermelon is my biggest crave.

At some point you can have it again, IF you want it. My advice, or at least what I did, is I had nothing like that before I reached goal. Take this honeymoon period and get the most bang for your buck....THEN start enjoying a 'normal' life. I had 3 oz of fried catfish this past weekend, but it is not something I do often, once in a blue moon, but I love it just as much as I did prior to surgery, the quantity is a lot less! Good luck to you......you will find your new normal, and embrace it!!!

I eat Chinese, but beware, be careful of the rice!!! I am CERTAIN it triples when it hits our new little tummy!! There is a place near by that we like, the food is good, but they let me order a child's plate, just for the record, a child's plate is probably what a NORMAL sized plate should be!! :) Anyway, I get the chicken Fried Rice, maybe not the 'best' choice but the best choice on the child's menu. I eat all the chicken and then just a few little bites of rice. I was visiting last time and you've heard of "one bite too many", well, I had one bite too many and was absolutely miserable. I haven't been back, it just made quite an impact on me!! LOL

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
