February 2007 bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

I was banded on 02/27/2007 & today I will go for my 1st fill. By reading the post I do not suppose to eat or drink after midnight the day befor the fill, but on the day of your adjustment can you have something to drink. My doctor did not tell me.

I also didn't have food restrictions before my fill, and in fact I'd had a Protein Drink in the car on the way to it. I thought that was concession enough, not wanting eggs or something in my stomach at the fill itself! :) But no one told me to eat any particular way prior to the 1ST fill.

After the fill, I was on full liquids for 48 hours & mushies for another 48 hours. That, too, seems to vary base on your surgeon's protocol.

Good luck with your fill! :clap2: Let us know how it goes.

I think it depends on the surgeon. I had no special instructions for before or after the fill, just afterward to "take it easy, and be extra careful for the first 24-48 hours, and make sure I'm chewing very well, and taking small bites.

I just return from my 1st fill. It was not bad after all. He told me to have liquids until Friday. Saturday & Sunday mushies and Monday I can go back to solids. He really do not have any special instructions regarding eating prior to having adjustments either. Thanks

Here's my update: I've lost 6 pounds since my fill on April 14th. My fill is pretty tight but I am able to eat if I really chew small bites. So far, I am down 26 pounds since my band date of 2-9-07.

Good luck!!

I have had two fills and now have 5 ml in a 8ml band. I have lost 29lbs but seem to lose it in fits and starts but generally averaging out at 2lbs a week. I haven't started exercising yet but I'm sure that will help.

I think the person who started this thread for us changed to a March band date. So that could be the reason for you not being put on the list. I wasn't put on there either...so I did it myself. I put rdbiles and November Lily on the list. I will take over the list if no one else wants to do it. Anyone else out there a February club member and not on the list???

Hi Teacher , I Got Left Off The List Also, Armkam-2/21/07. I've Found Out That Exercise Really Does Help As Much As I Hate Doing It. This Week I've Been Teaching My Choir And Music Classes Dances For Our Spring Show In 3 Weeks And Spend 2-3 Hours Dancing Every Morning And Have Lost 5 More Lbs. For A Total Of 39 Lbs So Far. I Also Have More Energy To Teach Tho' At 42 This Dancing Is Wearing On My Knees And Back. Hopefully As The Weight Goes Down, Some Of That Will Leave. I'm Getting My 2nd Fill Next Tues, 5/1.sometimes It Seems I Have A Lot Of Restriction And Can Eat Very Little ( Especially In The Morning) , But Other Times I Can Eat Almost A "normal " Size Meal. Have A Great Day All ! Andrea

You're a good cookie to take us all on, Teacher!

As I browse through the other threads on LBT & see all the "same month" groups of Bandsters with active threads still going... Well, I just can't help wonder where will we all be this time next year? The LapBand doesn't give instant gratification; this is a 18-month/2 year plan we've signed on for... Oh, how I wish I had a crystal ball!

Many of us will be at goal already! A few of our number may have fallen off the Bandwagon, unfortunatly... Statistically, our majority will be well on our way, but with work still to do. I'd love to have met (if not surpassed) my surgeon's goal of being down by about 125 in April of 2008!

A year from now, how far do YOU hope to have come with your Band?

Suzanne...speaking of where we'll be in a year....I think it would be fun for us all to get together and meet in a year. We could bring one article of clothing that we wore right before surgery to show how much we've lost.

I wonder where everyone is from?? I'm from Texas. We'd have to pick a place that is centrally located for everyone. We could spend a weekend in a hotel somewhere and have a meeting!!! It would be so much fun!!!

I was banded on 2/7 and i am only down 23 pounds and at a stand still! HELP!! I already had my fill of 1 cc and have to wait 4 more weeks! I dont want to be fat anymore!

This is the frustrating part. But, don't worry. The 1st fill doesn't usually do very much, but I promise it DOES work eventually. I just had Fill #3 so I'm at 8 cc in a 10 cc band and this fill is the first one that's made a difference.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
