Only two more days til my, hopefully, final pre-op appointment! I'm having the Upper GI then meeting with the psychologist...

Ideally, for recovery purposes, would be for me to have the surgery either Feb 9 or 12, but who knows if I can get a date that early after the appointments...

Anxious and impatient in PA...

Heather

Hi All!

I have been looking for a thread for Feb, and here it is! I am getting banded on Feb. 1st here in Toronto. Very excited. I'm currently on day two of the pre-op diet (that consists entirely of cottage cheese and yogurt) and so far so good.

Just a question: how long was the process of getting approved, etc. for you guys? It sounds like quite the ordeal. I am wondering because it was super-fast for me here in Canada (my consultation was Dec. 22). Is that becasue I am self-pay and bypassed the insurance BS?

I just want to say that I admire you all for jumping through all of the hoops you have had to jump through to get this surgery... (I'm pretty sure that I would have chickened out had it not gone so quickly for me.) It takes genunie long-term commitment and dedication which I think will definitely serve you well after the operation. I look forward to hearing all about it. Good luck to you all!

WOW this thread is starting to hop!

I edited the very first message I posted (Post #2) with the complete updated list... I plan on keeping this list up to date for all the newbies who want to sign in or any of us pending folks that get a real date.

As far as the diet, I am doing the medifast diet as Dr Curry likes his patients to do. Its not too bad to follow at all.

First, I want to wish all you Feb. Bandsters good luck with your upcoming surgeries. Time goes by too fast....enjoy every minute of it!

I am going down to Mexico to Dr. Ortiz for a fill on Feb. 1st (will be there till the 2nd). Was wondering if anyone will be there having surgery with Dr. Ortiz on the 1st or 2nd.

Kirsten (who's ticker hasn't been updated in ages)

I too will join the Band Land in February- the 20th to be exact! I live in Tacoma Wa and my surgeon is Dr. Oh. He is having me "Protein Load" and I had to start my Vitamin regimen last week. I've added shakes to get an additional 60 grams of Protein a day. I am not allowed to drink CIB, Slimfast, Ensure, Boost or milk since they are too low in protein for the number of calories in them. He is very strick and requires a 2 week clear liquid (+ shakes) diet starting on 2/6 and then 4 weeks post op on the Clear Liquids as well and then 2 weeks of mushies. :faint: Not sure how much weight I'll have left to lose after all of that!

I'll try and keep in touch as we all go thru this adventure... can't guarantee how cheerful I'll be during the 6 weeks of liquids! :fencing:

Stacey

Hello last week I had my GI series and another nutrition appt. I hope to here from the surgeon this week with my lap band surgery date. I have paid the bill and these were the last 2 items to complete. I hope to have a Feb. surgery date. How much can you expect to lose during the pre-op diet?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
