Can we have a Unisex Forum?!

Recommended Posts

So I am not going to lie I find the idea that women are not allowed to post in the man's room and vice versa a bit silly. We are all grown adults and considering the forum's aren't private I am not sure why the restriction on the cross posting, but whatever. So what if there was a unisex forum where if people want men's and women's opinions you can get them! Or just lift the restriction :)

Just my two cents!

Omg especially since we can read what the opposite sex says just not post..if someone was really that uncomfortable they wouldn't post in a forum like this at all

Wouldn't that be the:Vertical Sleeve Surgery Talk Lounge?

Seems like the most appropriate spot.

This board as way too many sub forums as it is.

Isn't the whole rest of the forum (with the except of the men's and women's sub-forums) unisex?!? I'm super confused.

Oh my GOSH this is SOOOOOOOOOOO true! I would be nice to have things a little bit more condensed. I hate OH *because* it has really no sub forums once you get to a specific board. But I feel like VST has so so so many sub forums.

As to what the OP said about the idea that we "can't" post in the Men's/Powder if we are not the correct gender does seem a bit silly. If that were true, then shouldn't Religious NOT be allowed to post in the Agnostics forum, or if you are straight should you not be allowed in the gay room? What about if you are in your 20's and heading over to the 40's board? That all seems a bit silly don't you think?

http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/80058-not-posting-in-the-mens-roompowder-room/page__hl__%2Bnot+%2Bposting+%2Bthe+%2Bpowder+%2Broom

I believe that was the original thread asking about "closing" the men's/powder room. But it's not "closed" in the sense that only if you are a man or a woman can you read, you have just restricted opposite genders from posting, not reading (correct?)

Basically my thought is this: yeah, you can restrict people from posting in certain forums, but this is, after all, a public forum. Anything you put on here can be seen by anyone at all.

I think the gender forums should be private because usually if you start a topic in there, it's gender specific and maybe embarrassing to have the other gender read.

As for a unisex forum, every other subforum is unisex!

But they are not private. Nothing on here is "private" that is my point.

Sure men are asked not to post in the powder, and vice versa, but it's really not private in any way. Just because you "post" it in the powder room doesn't mean that mean can't read it.

I frankly don't get the need for privacy. If I post something gender specific that's embarrassing...oh, say, a rash on my man parts.... I'm equally embarrassed for a bunch of strangers to read that regardless of what sex you are. I don't feel any more comfortable spilling my secrets just because women are or are not reading it. But hey, that's just me.

If we are gonna start making forums private though, we need to make them all private. In other words, no pre-op people in the vets forum. I mean what's the difference? It's a public forum about VSG. Last I checked, they operated on our stomach not our genetalia. What's so secretive and embarrassing that the opposite sex can't read about it.....that is VSG related?

Bahaha ok ok stand down! I don't care either way. It just seems to bother a few people lately. Just giving a suggestion. If I have a private woman question I ask my girlfriends or doc LOL!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
