I had surgery this Monday and there is no way possible that I would consider food not approved by my Doctor. The last four days of gas pain was reason enough for me! Not to mention that swallow test with the Xray. I made the decision to have surgery to knowing the risks and sacrifice necessary to be successful. It would be grossly counterproductive to cheat myself now. Not preaching, just saying!

For me I didn't realize I had a leak until 10 days after. By then I already had a major abscess and my signs then were fever' date=' chills, vomiting, and major body aches. I ended up in the hospital for a whole week.[/quote']

Go to know this! Hope you are feeling better! When were u sleeved and how are u doing now?

I do have insurance. I have to pay 10% which is $2200.00 . I have half of it. Thanks for your co cern and help. I 'll just have fo wait. :(

I really hope things work out. Definitely call your hospital! Since they're going to be making a lot of money off of the other 90 percent that your insurance company is paying, they should more than likely be happy to work out payment arrangements for your portion. :) I am responsible for 20% coinsurance with my health plan (it will end up being a little bit less, since I am close to my out of pocket maximum for the year), but I wasn't asked to pay when I checked in at the hospital. That might be the case for you as well, since the bill will likely vary depending on whether you have to stay in the hospital longer, meds used, etc.

I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you!!!

I don't think they will work with that, but worth a try. It's a special Bariatric center that's connected to the hospital & they said no money no surgery. I have one more resource to try Monday. Keep fingers & toes crossed!

Who has cheated and has eaten regular food. And is still alive. On the first week?

I was to afraid of the pain I would likely have.

I'm on day 6...started eating Yoplat (is that spelled right? LOL) a couple days ago and I seem to get through a little more than a half before I feel "satisfied". How did you find the greek yogurt? Was the consistency too thick? LOL

I ate some Greek yogurt late in my first week. This was technically against my surgeon's plan, but other surgeons allow it. So I don't really count it ;)

I have not ate real food, only because my doctor scared me out of it. He said as your stomach is still healing if you eat food it can get stuck on the staples and start to rot. He then said you would have to go back in have you stomach sucked clean and start all over on the liquid diet. I said heck no, I will not be on the liquid diet for another four weeks.

I will admit to sucking the seasoning off chips and crackers and I also chew something up and spit it out. It gives you the sensation of eat without needing to swallow it.

If you search chew and spit on here.. People get very passionate about it. Is not healthy and can actually lead to dangerous behaviors.

If you pop open your staples inside and cause a leak they cannot go in and stitch it back up. You have to lay in the hospital for months while scar tissue forms to seal it off. You will be fed by IV food nothing by mouth. My surgeon scared me to say the least.

I do not make a habit out of it. However there are times I need the sensation of chewing something. I have been on 5 weeks of liquid and still have a week left of liquids.< /p>

Just hang in there. This is a marathon not a sprint. I had the experience of dealing with a lapband first and know all too well how horrible it feels to get something stuck. One of these times it will happen to you (we all have to do it at least once) and then you will start moving away from this practice. Try getting a hawaiian shave ice maker and use the sugar free Syrup. Its really good and feels like a treat.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
