That is wonderful that you are released from the duties of the pre op diet. There are many that would gladly trade places with you rather then go through the drudgery and pain of an Atkins style low carbathon or, worse, an all liquids diet of 2-3 weeks. Oh the misery. I remember the Atkins style pre op diet I did (2 weeks) and it was only OK because I usually do well on low carb diets. My wife, on the other hand, hates the Atkins low carb diet and will be needing to start her version of it sometime this month (still waiting on actual date). Again, how lucky you are!!

In less then 24 hrs I will be sleeved. I feel like little kid at Christmas waiting for Santa. The anticipation is nerve wrecking.

It is a bit like Christmas morning! You will be giving yourself such a nice Christmas gift that you can enjoy for the rest of your life. I wish the best for you on surgery day. Be sure to try and sleep tonight with all the excitement coming up tomorrow. Maybe take a helper sleeping pill to be fully rested in the morning.

I have surgery tomorrow at 12:15 with all liquids stopped at midnight tonight. I am scared and very nervous and now beginning to panic over swallow test on Tuesday!! Not to mention that I think I will be very hungry and thirsty waiting for my turn to go to surgery!!

The swallow test is not that bad! Don't worry about it it's not great tasting but not something to stress about either :)

You know I was the last surgery of the day, and it was probably the one time in my life that I wasn't thinking about food :P

Try and get some rest tonight, I know it's easier said than done. But you have long day ahead of you tomorrow.

Wishing you well!

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I am feeling very excited but very emotional at the same time. I am super gaggy and hated with a passion the upper GI they made me do. I had to do some serious soul searching to keep from getting sick. Ugh I wish I was I the other side already.

I remember the night before.. I was a ball of nerves also. I know for my leak test the worse part was just drinking a bit of nasty stuff after that nothing was stuck down my throat, so hopefully it will be easy for you too.

Just remember to give yourself time. It's major surgery. Some people are up and bouncy right away but some of us needed more time to heal.

Be kind and patient with yourself and the process.

I'm on the 6th and they didn't tell me about a cleanse or anything other then nothing to eat after midnight. This is my first time to this forum. I cant sleep and decided to search and found this

Welcome and good luck in the morning!

Not every doctor does a bowel prep the night before.. I guess your one of the lucky ones!

I get sleeved today at 1:15 pm. I did not have to do a bowel prep.

Sleeved June 3....Home from the hospital now. Found out that I hadn't been on pain meds for the past 10 hours at the hospital, but I had some liquid lortab when I got home.

I remember they tried to give me some liquid Lortab before they released me from the hospital...I couldn't get that stuff down; I think I would have to be in some awful pain to use that, and I've had to drink some pretty horrible stuff for other tests and such
