I was sleeved Dec. 4, 2012. In the 8 months prior and 5 months since, I have lost a total of 60 pounds, which is great, but have gotten complacent. I am eating the right foods most of the time, and I am usually eating less than 1000 calories a day, but I am not losing weight. I need to loose 50 more pounds before the back surgeon will see me again. I am down 60 in one year and 50 - 75 to go. I am losing my gusto! I am down from a size 26 to an 18W which is great, but I seem to have stalled out mentally and physically. Eke.

You probably need to up your calorie intake, that sounds frightfully low.

I'm going to assume that you mean 1000 calories a day and not 100??

The best thing you can do is go back to basics and eat your Protein, veggies and fruits. And cut out the processed junk type food.< /p>

Yes, hopefully that was a typo. If its not, your body has gone into starvation mode and is harboring onto all it has to "stay alive" I wish you luck!

I know what you mean!! I lost my gusto too I'm afraid. I'm not eating bad but I'm just not exercising. Sometimes is just difficult to stay on track and focused in our busy lives. We both need to re focus in the prize. We can do this!!! And I know you meant 1000 calories a day. I can read through typos. I wish theee was more help with the staying on track part months after surgery.

Yes, I would also say to have a heart to heart talk with yourself & revisit your intial reasons for having the surgery in the first place. I also recommend setting fresh goals for yourself that have nothing to do with the scale, just NSVs only. Then, write down your vision & plan that you have to knock off the last lbs you plan to lose & hang it where you will be reminded daily. Hope this helps. Best wishes...

Are you being honest with yourself and tracking? Because if you are eating 1000 calories a day, you should still have a pretty decent defecit, and should still be losing. The fact that you said you feel like you are stallling mentally and physically just made me wonder, because I recognize this pattern from my own personal experience in every diet I tried before surgery. It just gets hard after a while to stay focused. I always see a direct correlation between where my mind is and how my body responds to diet and vice versa. So for me, the one thing I have FORCED myself to do is be brutally honest with myself about what I put in my mouth. I track every bite, and work hard not to graze - the two things I know for me, always lead to backsliding. Just ignore if you are already brutally honest with yourself, and good luck! :)

Yes, it was a typo - 1000 cal. I need to up my exercise. My story is that I have severe arthritis in my lumbar spine so the only exercise is in the pool. If I had a private pool, I would be there everyday. Public pools are always so busy when I can get there after work and it is too easy to no go. I know when I am on holidays in 4 weeks (I am a teacher) I will get there probably every day. I help my students every day but I don't help myself as often. This is backwards!

I agree totally. Where I fault is allowing myself to give in to the temptation of quick and dirty calories.

My advice is cut yourself some slack. That's almost as hard to do as being accountable to yourself for what you put in your mouth. Even if you eat too much or the wrong things, being aware of it can go a long way in helping to keep you focused. So, my next advice is to track - and get rid of the stuff that's a temptation! Gee! I think you guys are good luck! Since I posted two days ago I have lost 4 lbs. and you are sbfolurely right!! I need to be honest and true with myself and realize I did this for me. Thanks for the pep talk!! We can do this Shelley!!!!

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
