Well it will be here before you know it! Did you have to do a liquid diet? I am in puréed and I am creative so it has not been difficult. Because I became gluten free a few years ago, I am used to being prepared with food and meals before I go anywhere. So same here - be prepared. Wishing well for you! Blessings ~ Melody

No liquid diet for me; I'm on a 3 week high Protein, low carb diet..2 Protein shakes and a small meal daily...and some coffee (I can't seem to give that up). :)

That is good. Pray it goes well for you! I am getting my Protein up now. I baked a small piece of salmon with herbs and lemon juice. It was good. Only able to eat a ounce and a half but I will eat the rest tonight. I found frozen greek yogurt pops today. I bought honey & Carmel flavor and it was good. I have also bought a bottle of odwalla Liquid Protein. I have been putting it in everything - drinks, smoothies & Soups. Even pouring it in cooked things the way I would use milk. So it is really adding up. Hope some of this helps make your journey easier. Blessings! Melody

Starting to pack for the hospital! Wednesday morning is my surgery. I can't wait to start feeling better. Thursday I had my preop with Dr. Antonetti and had lost 10# at that point. I was getting quite stressed out and nervous. But talking with him really made me feel better. Have you guys checked out bariatricfoodie.com ? I love that site! She has a lot of great articles and recipes.< /p>

Dr. Antonetti is my surgeon too! Are you having your surgery at Lexington? Best of luck to you - I absolutely can't wait. Just chomping at the bit to get my surgery date (though I have already started packing!) I'm so excited to get this chance to change my life. Hearing all these good stories of success give me hope for a good outcome.

Yes, at Lexington Med center. Everything I've had done there has been a good experience so far. Nice facility. I was really stressed out about things until I was able to talk to the doc. That visit really put me at ease. I'm ready for it.

I'll be thinking about you! I'm having my nuclear stress test on Wednesday morning with Dr. Epps right across the street. Hope I live through it! Really anxious to hear how things go. I've been very impressed with everything and everyone at Lexington Medical Center so far. I'll be sending up prayers for your safe and easy recovery!

Summerjjjj - did you have to do the full 4 weeks of pre-op diet or did you do less? I keep hearing different things from different people at Riverside Surgical so I'm confused. The nutritionist said 4 weeks but when Dr. Strickland talked to our nutrition class - he said only 2 weeks were needed.

They said between 2-4. Pretty much 2 weeks is the bare minimum. I started at 3 weeks out because I was anxious to start losing weight. It just so happened that very day I got the call I was approved and surgery scheduled.

I started dieting with my very 1st appt on Apr 8th!! I'm down 24 lbs since then. I was just wondering because Dr. Strickland said that the pre-op diet isn't really to get you to lose weight - it's to shrink your liver. Though I can't see how you wouldn't lose weight on that pre-op diet. I'm just anxious because I need to have my surgery in August and my last NUT appt is Jul 15th and they say BCBS takes 5-7 days to approve and then you have to do the pre-op diet. September is a really, really bad month for me at work and my sister is coming to take care of me and September is bad for her too. I think my heart will break if I have to wait till October - I'm so ready to do this and get started on my journey. They supposedly made a note in my file but I'm still gonna worry till I get a actual date!!

I had it done in Charleston by Dr. Thomas Bryne. I am getting it in now cause everything seems too sweet. So it astounds me because I used to force myself to drink Water but lately it is all I want. Blessings!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
