I'm about to start my 2 week liquid diet. My surgery date is 17 June. So I have a little over a week before I start. Any tips?

I found a chocolate. But I'm looking for a plain one to add to veggies. Any ideas?

On another thread someone posted that powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury makes an unflavored Protein powder for that....not sure if GNC would carry or who does....the one thing they said is that if you use more that the recommended serving in Soup etc, it tastes chalky. I am pre op and do not have my date yet, but I have started testing different Protein shakes.

You are having to do a 2 week liquid diet? The diet they put me on before my surgery, which accomplished its goal, was a liver detox diet. Two weeks on nothing but liquid before surgery, that just sounds cruel. I had a killer time on the liquid diet after surgery, I could not imagine how it was before then. Good luck...

I found that finding a Protein shake before surgery, is sometimes a mute point. The one that I found I liked before surgery, I was not able to stomach after surgery, and ended up using a totally different one. Just a warning in advanced, not to buy to much of one before hand, because that change might happen.

I suggest getting a sampler of the Syntrax Nectars. It's nice to have a variety of flavors to mix it up.

The first 3 - 4 days are not going to be pleasant. Get yourself some liquid Tylenol for the headaches. After the 3 - 4 days you will be surprised at how well you feel. You'll feel the occasional hunger pang but it won't be as intense as in the beginning. Avoid situations where it would be easy to cheat. Come back here, start a thread, and whine to your heart's content whenever you feel the need - it helps to vent.

I used and still use Pure whey Protein powder from GNC (both chocolate & vanilla are yummy), Isopure from GNC and an unflavored protein powder to mix in Soups, also bought at GNC. Any time you feel like cheating, just remember why you are doing this and the risk of your liver not shrinking enough if you do cheat. It is only two weeks out of your life. Good luck, stay strong- you can do this!!

Am I the only one that was not on a liquid diet before surgery? I had a fatty liver and was told if I did not get it small enough, they would not do the surgery. My dietician put me on a diet of lemon Water and chili. Said the lemon water is good for detoxing the liver and so are all the ingredients in chili. Like kidney Beans, peppers, tomatoes, and lean beef. Was told to stay away from any type of potato. So for two weeks I ate all the chili I wanted (I did limit myself) and drank nothing but lemon water. Was shown pictures of my liver they took during surgery and the surgeon told me it looked like I had a new liver. He said he was shocked that it was the same liver that was shown to him by ultrasound less then a week before. Everyone was on a liquid diet? Really?

All surgeons are different. My 2 week preop diet consist of up to 5 Protein shakes/bars a day as well as 5 oz of protein and 2 cups of vegetables (I usually ate a filet mignon and green beans). I love steak and grilled chicken/fish, so I never felt like I was on a diet. I would be sick if someone told me I had to eat chili for 2 days, much less two weeks. Some people can only have liquids. Why it is different or what doctor is right, we will never know...and who cares. If you chose your surgeon, then have faith what they are telling you to do is best.

Not everyone here was put on a liquid diet. If I recall correctly, the "a lighter me" program in Mexico allows you to eat what you want up to the last minute.

Seriously? Lemon Water and chili diet? I adore chili, I could do that! The sweetness of the Protein Drinks for two weeks straight gets old quick for a person that wasn't much of a sweets person in the first place. I was allowed chicken broth - the first one I had was like a fine steak to me!

I agree with what you are saying, it just seems like torture to me. My biggest problem was will power. If I was hungry, I ate. Usually ate much more then I needed too.... so having me on a liquid diet for two weeks before surgery, would have been impossible for me to do. I know it would have been. It was almost impossible for me to do for one week after surgery, accept, I did not really feel hungry after surgery, I just saw, and smelled what everyone else was having, and wanted that. Without the hunger, it was much easier to resist. However, I can not imagine, being on a liquid diet, and still having the hunger. Then again, everyone is different. Which is why I wish the best of luck. I just know, I would fail that area..... of course, I think perhaps my dietician knew that, and maybe that is why I was on a the diet I was.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
