Sleeved May 9...depressed, regretting having they surgery!

Recommended Posts

I'm only 2 weeks out and I'm so depressed. Yes granted I've lost 32 lbs but I'm regretting having this done I only wish that it was reversible. I can't keep anything down but Popsicles and Water. I hear people say oh it was a piece of cake and they feel good, well I don't :-(

:(

I'm sorry your not feeling well. And let me tell you it was not a piece of cake for a lot of us! I had a really hard first month.. From pain to really missing food....

As far as not being able to keep anything down, have you talked to you doctor about it?

Hang in there. You are very early out....it does get easier & better each day. Work on Water, Protein, & moving more each day...and you will start feeling better. I am 11 weeks out. The first 2 weeks are hell; the next 2 weeks a little better. Just hang tough that first month...and you will start feelign more normal.

Best of luck to you. Take care!

I went to dr today and he is making me an appt with my nut again...

Why the nut? Does he want you eating different?

You just had surgery 2 weeks ago and went through with a decision to alter your life. If you didn't have moments of regret, sadness or panic you wouldn't be normal!

Do not base your future on how you feel right now. You put your stomach and body through a painful, unnatural thing, and readjustment takes a while. Right now, you don't feel good, but in 6 months or a year, it will be different. If you don't believe me just read a few posts on the Veterans board. They were all here once too and now look at them!!

Also, as our bodies burn that fat, it releases hormones that take us on an emotional roller coaster. I cried because 13 years ago when my sister got married , I was 15 and I couldn't go to her bachelorette party. Ohhhhh hormonal emotional roller coaster!

On top of that, if you were an emotional eater, you just lost your best coping skill. You can't eat to deal with feelings effectively anymore.

You changed your life -- there is a certain greiving process that goes with that -- it's not easy. Going back and forth between "awesome" and "oh crap" is part of that greif.

Next, I want you to be prepared for the stalls that are going to come because they will come and if you are already down, the kick of a stall will hurt that much more. A stall is your body playing catch up and will pass - no one stays stuck in their 3 week stall!!

He is sending to the nut again to see if I can change anything or the specifics of what to eat. I can't talk to my family they all say I'm stupid and made a dumb decision so I feel like I'm all alone in this ????

You are not alone!!! In the beginning, it is very difficult and especially if you are having problems. Take it one day at a time, and it will improve!!!

I understand that, I had a 2 day bout of OMG, what the hell have I done, I've cut my Blanking stomach out. It happened about 10 days after surgery for me. I'd been confidently preparing for 8 months to get it done, then, holy cow, and liquids were awful, water tasted like crud, and I thought well, this is it. Lasted about 2 days, and it was over. Thing is, my doctor said I might face a little depression, but woah, that episode, unreal. Hasn't happened since. But remember, your body has been thrown into a major change mode here. You won't regret it later. Once you get to feeling better, this will pass as well, but you should probably contact your doctor and get some help for the nausea, not to mention some comfort from your doctor that this will pass, and not only will you survive, you will thrive! Good luck, I'll be praying for you and checking back to see how you are doing.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
