doing cartwheels...in my mind

Recommended Posts

I have officially been approved for surgery along with my sister. We go for our preop appt on the 6th. I can't believe how close this is to happening. I thought the 6 month diet was going to drag on for a lifetime but it flew by and now we're on to the next step. I'm extremely excited and having a hard time keeping it a secret. I haven't told anyone about the surgery outside of my family and my best friend. I finally broke down and told another friend today and he was in shock. I'm moving back closer to home a few months after surgery so I'm trying to keep it between me and my family so I can go back home and be like surprise. I'm stoked, that is all.

I have my first appt with dr to see if I am a candidate for surgery June 10. Is there anything I should expect or know?

Good luck!! I would say just have all of your questionnaires filled out if they gave you any ahead of time, be familiar with your history, and be confident in your belief that you deserve this surgery and a better quality of life...hopefully your surgeon is as helpful and friendly and talkative as mine is. Keep us posted!!

We will hopefully set a surgery date when we meet with the surgeon on the 6th. I'm glad we're both doing it too.

If you are meeting with your regular doctor and going thru your insurance to do it there really isn't much to expect. We had to do a 6 month supervised diet and my doc ran tests our first visit but I don't think that's typical of most doctors. From what I can figure the supervised diet is just to prove that you are trying and don't continue to gain weight. I did gain a couple of the months but I never gained back to my highest. If your insurance does require a 6 month diet you have to stick to it. My doctor talked to us about it and she's had others that started the process but just quit after the first couple of months. It's a pain to have to wait that long but I think it was for the best for me. When I started I was still on the fence about the surgery but once I realized I really do have a stopping point on what I can lose on my own I knew it was the right choice.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
