How much weight have you lost on the pre-op diet?

I'm amazed that I've lost 10 pounds in 8 days since doing the partial liquid diet. It's crazy!

I was actually pretty surprise to see that most of the people on here had to do a liquid diet before surgery.. I wonder why doctor are different with the pre-op instructions...

Idk, my doctor shares his practice with two others and they all do things a little bit different.

The reason for the liquid diet is that it shrinks the liver and makes it easier on the surgeon during the surgery less likely to cause any damage to the liver as it has to be moved out of the way during the procedure.

I did lost 15lbs

I lost 26 pounds so far.....I don't have a date yet, did all the pre-op requirements already, meeting with my surgeon on 5/28 and hopefully he'll say "omg you did great, lets just skip the liquid crap " lol

Wow! That's great.

I lived out of state, so my first doctor's visit, the seminar and my "2 week pre-op" were all rolled into one.....two month prior to surgery. The pre op is to shrink the liver so it will be not be 'fatty' and easier to work around during surgery. He told me to lose 10 - 15 lbs. I knew I could, I CAN lose weight, it's keeping it off I always had trouble with!!!! I had two months and lost 23 lbs. He was happy and so was my liver!!! I'm sure of it!

Wow! That's great.

Thank you! Lean cuisine and truck loads of fruit and veggies and a lot of walking. I also had to think before I eat... Am I hungry and need to eat or do I want to eat. If I wasn't sure I jogged in place for 5 minutes.

I tink I lost 11 lbs in the 2 weeks prior but am sure I gained it back in the hospital. Have not weighed in but super bloated in the midsection.

May I ask what your diet consists of on a daily basis?

Thanks

Sheena :-)

I am on my 6th day of the preop diet and have lost about 11lbs. I'm on straight liquid protien shakes.

May I ask what your diet consists of on a daily basis?

Thanks

Sheena :-)

Sure, 3-4 Protein shakes/day, one small healthy lean meal, sugar free fat free liquids and as many raw vegetables as I want.

I started my pre-op diet on May 7th, which consist of up to 5 protein shakes a day. 5 oz of lean protein and 2 cups of vegetables a day. I have lost 14 pounds! Surgery on Tuesday...

Mine is too! 2 more days..

I was on Protein shakes and Atkins type food for 3 weeks before surgery and lost 15 pounds, gained all that while in the hospital and it took over 2 weeks to lose all the Water weight. I'm now 7 weeks out and have gone from 206 (preop) to 172.
