SleeveNZ' date=' You look amazing!!! Have you worked out like crazy this whole time? 93 lbs in 6 months is an amazing result. That's a lot of weight in very little amount of time. That is EXACTLY what I am hoping to acomplish. What's your secret? or should i say what are your recomendations? I have heard post ops have loose skin issues and you seem to have NONE at all. I am still pre op so NO WAY is my bikini pic going on here. Keep up the good work.[/quote']

Thank you - nope havent worked out like crazy there are weeks where I work out more than others but I do strength train 2x a week with a personal trainer as well as walking and a bit of running and team sports. This was the one piece of advice given to me by a bypass patient at my info evening. Tone as you lose as theres not much u can do about it afterwards.

No secrets - but I did go up to 1000 cal as soon as I could so I didnt go into starvation mode. I also mix my food up daily - so my body doesnt get used to anything. Always Protein first. Dont forget to treat yourself - everything in moderation has worked for me :)

Good luck with your journey!

Attached is a cheesy bikini pic that I was going to save to compare to my one year when I have abs of steel and a killer tan to match - but what the hell. I was really curious to see others post weight loss to see scaring and lose skin etc but they are really hard to find! So heres mine! Please note that this is post c-section of a 9lb baby 11 months ago!

If any are brave enough to share theirs please do - I need inspiration!

You look fantastic. Even if I lose all the weight that I want to there won't be any bikini pics, but I will rock a one piece.

You look fantastic! But where on earth in NZ would you wear a bikini at this time of year? It will be December before you get me anywhere near swimwear ;-)

Ohhhh we miss our spa, now that the nights are getting colder I regret not bringing it with us when we moved! Though we always went in, umm, without swimsuits ;-)

Congrats on the bikini, you look GREAT!!!

Why do you refuse to take the gallbladder out? I had mine out about 14 years ago and at the time I was told once you develop gall stones there isn't much to do except remove it. I understand there are new medications that can help prevent stones, not sure about already having stones though. I'm sure there are newer technologies that I'm just unaware of since I haven't had to think about mine in a long time At any rate, I hope you get to keep yours!

a) I dont want to go through another op.

B) I hear lots of cases of "dumping syndrome after GB removal and other bad side effects.

c) There is plenty of cases where gallstones remain present in your body and not cause any problems ever. I'm hoping that I will be in the latter!

Did you have any probs after ur GB removal?

Totally understand not wanting another OP. :)

I had absolutely zero complications with my GB removal. In fact, I was THRILLED to bits to get rid of if. The long version of the story is that back then I had done Medifast. 6 months of NO OTHER food than Medifast. (this was at a time when you could NOT purchase Medifast online and whatnot, so I was being carefully monitored by a medical doctor, etc.) Then I did another 6 months of combination Medifast and real food. So all in all I did Medifast for a year. They told me a possible side-effect was gallstones and yep, just about 3 months after ending the "diet" I started having severe pain. After a few months of trying to chase down the source of the pain, I learned that I had gall stones and the pain resulted from "passing" a stone through my system. WORST PAIN EVER, and I went on to have two children about a year and a half after my GB removal and to this day I still say passing a stone was worse than childbirth.

So the short version of the story is I felt 1000% better after the GB was gone. Recovery was super-easy. I think I had mine out on a Thurs. and was back at work on the following Mon. I did not experience any food-related issues, dumping, runs, etc. I don't know if those are common side-effects or not. So basically for me life WITH a GB and life WITHOUT a GB were identical. I didn't change any eating habits, etc. I was just relieved that I will never in my life feel that pain again. :D

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
