Favorite Food Just made me sick!

Recommended Posts

So I decided to cook a steak and red potatoes for dinner tonight. Well I put a little Ranch on the side since I have only had 400 calories today. Anyway, I took a couple bites of each and of course was full. I love Ranch dressing, btw but I have only eaten it maybe 2 or 3 times post op. back to the story, I put my plate down and watched some TV. I look down at my plate and all of a sudden I vomited from looking at the Ranch dressing. The look, smell and taste just made me sick! Anyone else have that issue before?

I had a similar reaction to ranch, but I discovered that I now am lactose intolerant to full fat milk and creams. I tried a small milk shake from McDonald's and by the time I got home as soon as I got in the bathroom, it came back up. You may have developed the same issue.

I thought that too but I can eat dairy for the most part except drink a glass of milk or that comes up. I mean I may have only had 1/8 tsp of it altogether. I didn't have an upset stomach at all until I looked down at it. Lol, I'm probably pregnant.. Ha, j/k

Booo! This is not cool at all. The thought of it repulses me. My all time favorite food is salad too and they don't taste great at all anymore. I guess Ranch is the root of all evil now.

I love Hot and Sour soup.... Um... I had Tom Yum the other day and it was de-lish. Very similar to Hot and Sour but more brothy.. Get it from a REALLY good Thai place.

I hope I can still have hot and sour soup..

I am wondering if post-op time is like early childhood. Traumas received then stay with you for your whole life. Hot and sour Soup was the first food that came back on me.

I went to my local Chinese restaurant and got my usual quart of egg drop soup which is a great post-op food and decided to get a quart of hot and sour, too. Hot and sour was my all-time favorite. It's flavors cut through to my deadened taste buds during chemo therapy and gave me relief from no taste food when nothing else would.

But, alas, it would not stay down and hasn't even yet. :(

I'm only a week post op and haven't eaten food yet, so I don't know about eating it. However, I know that my sense of smell seems to be crazy intense right now. When my hubby cooks dinner, some smells make me nauseous that never would have before.

That's completely understandable at a week post op. I didn't start liking the smell or taste of food until I got closer to a month. The desire goes out the window until your body starts getting back to the "new normal".

The only thing that has given me a sick feeling is the Crystal lite fruit punch. Eck! For some reason I have had a low tolerance of many foods with lots of coloring. This drink has lots of red dye #40.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
