The only thing I can tell you about Lasik is don't expect perfection. All you hear on the commercials and advertisements is "I see 20/20 or better!" Many do have perfect vision but be prepared for the possibility for it not to be perfect. I paid extra to go to a surgeon that my insurance didn't cover because he was the best in our area. My vision was great but not perfect. I wanted perfection and I could have an enhancement within 5 years at no charge so I did. He messed me up with the enhancement. I am far sighted in my right eye and have a bad astigmatism in my left eye. I wear glasses pretty much all the time now. I can't read without them at all! I REALLY wish I hadn't had the enhancement.

I hate to say it, but everyone is different. A lot of people on the forum were up and about days after VSG. Many other people (myself included) took weeks to heal and be up for any activities. I personally would not schedule a non-refundable event only 2 days after any surgery. You just never know how you will feel. If you have the option to bale out at the last minute without losing any money, then I think that would be okay.

As for LASIK, it was the best thing I ever did for myself! I even put that above VSG. I was blind as a bat before LASIK (I couldn't even see the "E" on the vision charts. I knew it was an E... everyone knows it is an E. But, it was just a blob without my contacts or glasses.) I was lucky and had 20/20 after the surgery. Even if I didn't have perfect vision, I would have been satisfied to see the alarm clock each morning. Before LASIK, I could not recognize someone 2 feet in front of my face without corrective lenses.

I don't know if you've had it done yet, but I wouldn't do it if I were you. Lasik is an easy recovery and you would probably physically feel up to it but do you really want to put anymore stress on your immune system? Especially when it comes to your vision.

Can you tell me how this went? I'd love to hear from anyone in regards to a referral and if anyone got prices for Mexico lasik :)

I had lasik in the US at TLC. I got a small discount with my health insurance and it ended up being just under $4,000. I did get 2 years free financing so I pay about $160 a month. Somethings I wish I would have known before. You may very well have 20/20 vision after surgery but glasses and contacts usually correct you to better than 20/20 so you may not see as clearly after surgery as you do now. This is something you can get used to, but it takes a while. I had horrendous astigmatism and my lasik didn't correct it all. I had to get a touch up, which my plan covers for life, but you can only do lasik 1 time. The 2nd time they do PRK which is a much harder recovery and a lot more painful. I had horrible Migraines before lasik and PRK and now I hardly ever do so for me it was worth it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
