They have to glue electrodes to your scalp for the sleep study. The weave may prevent them from getting the electrodes right on the scalp as they need to be, and the glue might be hard to get out of braided hair. (sorry, not very familiar with how weaves are done.)

I know when I did mine they put tons of little stickers and wires on my scalp. Would your weave make it so they couldn't access your scalp?

When I had a sleep study done the guy didn't want to do it because I had just got my hair done. The wires that they put in your hair ( it was quite a bit of them) they use glut or a paste you will have up wash it afterwards.

Yea, and it pulls your chest hairs out too when they take off the electrodes the next morning. :-P

Wow, pulling electrodes off your head pulls hair from your chest? That must be some comb-over you're sporting! :-)

It does, it does! I don't get haircuts anymore, the barber pulls hard on my chest hairs and it pulls the hair on my head back in. Much better system. :-P

I have locs and it was very nerve wrecking getting all the glue out of my hair. They do not use a dab, it is more like a glob, at least the size of a finger tip. They also prefer that women not wear acrylic nails to the test, I have a gel overlay and did not have a problem. Also, I had to remove the polish from my nail on the finger that had the pulse of monitor attached( did not understand the purpose of that)

I do sleep studies and out paper work tells pts all that same stuff but we dont send somebody home if they have a weave or fingernail polish but If you dont remove nail polish it could cause an inaccurate reading of your SaO2

Sent from my iPhone using VST

You truly shouldn't have to take your braids down. I went in with braids and did just fine. They do put sticky gel in your hair but its really not bad at all! You'll do just fine! :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
