I've noticed that people on here can be very judgmental and mean!! So I've been skeptical about posting this....but anyways

I was sleeved 3/13 I'm down 50lbs and to be honest I eat what I want (not a whole lot i have restriction duh!)..nooo I'm not saying I eat fat greasy foods...but yes I eat bread ...yes I buy low fat crackers and pretzels....I do watch my sugar intake but maybe one day out the week I'll have a frozen Cappuccino or a few cookies...my point is I've done my research and your body needs carbs and fat without it you will definitely "STALL" judge me if you like I just wanted to share that...for all you people that wants to judge me keep your comments to yourself please and thank you..

Whatever works is my motto. If I have learned nothing else since my revision, with the sleeve it is extremely individualized! Besides your post brings to mind a scripture"he whom is without sin, cast the first stone". I have no desire to be stoned :)

I don't follow a diet. I eat what ever I want. I don't eat breads though. But I eat whatever. Lol and I've lost 117 lbs in 6 months.

Yes I believe different things work for different people...my friend got sleeved 3 months before me and she said the same thing as soon as she started putting a lil carbs and fat in her diet she started shedding the pounds..she stalled for 3 weeks before then...but thanks for not beinh judgemental

That is pretty much me- except I don't eat a lot of bread (like with sandwiches or burgers, etc.) I do eat baked chips and crackers sometimes. Really only because bread doesn't appeal, and it doesn't sit well with me- the "doughiness" of it. Anyway, I think you're fabulous, and you should do whatever works for you and helps keep you on track losing! Carbs- good carbs- are awesome!

Oh Honey! You just made me laugh! There are a lot of food nazis on this site! I too eat some fat and carbs in small portions and even occasionally a (gasp) sugary treat! We do need some carbs and especially the Omega three fats in order for our metabolism to run. I try to concentrate on getting enough Protein though because if I don't that's when I feel hungry and I tend to start grazing, which is dangerous behavior. My other observation is that while I am able to eat sugar it tends to make me feel crappy. I try not to give in to my sugar cravings because it is an addiction for me. My brain still desires that sugary, mellow high, although my resistance to sugar's siren-song is much stronger since being sleeved! It is important to be self-aware of one's potential to F things up despite having had the surgery.

I don't have a problem with your diet. Yes, carbs and fat are important. Protein just takes first chair.

I don't know what you expected to happen after your post. I've been on this forum since Jan. 2012 and have over 1,147 posts and have started 55 topics, I've said some pretty wild stuff but so far no one has done me any physical or emotional damage. It is just a forum full of semi-anonymous people, they have no access to me other than what I give them. I don't consider that any of them know me well enough to hurt me.

I am not so worried about "being judged". When someone disagrees with what I say it is just that, a disagreement. That's how we learn from each other.

Abuse is not tolerated here, that is a different story.

Hi this is your journey.... we all have to do what works best for us individually. Good for you speaking what you really feel. unfortunately the nature of this type of web site is we will encounter folks who are judgemental. However, that being said it does not mean their opinion is correct. Thank you for your boldness to be you!

I am 4 months post op. I have been doing the whole eating plan as the doctor has told me. I have been sluggish and tired. I am working out at least 5 days a week with a Trainer. My trainer is telling me I have to up my carbs if I wanna have more energy and get stronger…But I am Scared, so your post is refreshing to hear.

The point of us having this surgery was to live like normal healthy skinny people, not to stay on a diet the rest of our lives. I eat whatever I want and always have, but in very tiny quantities. I am almost 15 months out. I have lost 165#. I have pretty much been in maintenance for 3 months. Not really on purpose; the nut told me that my calories were too low and that is why I stopped. I upped my calories and carbs and lost 5# in 5 days. I am 10# below goal. You will find that the majority of people that will all four you are pre-surgery or newbie sleevers. That is why you will find very few veterans here. We have learned to live life like normal people with tiny stomaches and we try to steer clear of pettiness. You have to find your own way in this journey. If you were living on nothing but cokes and Cookies I would tell you to get a hold of yourself. If you have a cupcake now and then or a cookie with your milk sometimes, I say enjoy. You are going to have a sleeve the rest of your life. You have not been sentenced to food prison. You have been given the liberating to enjoy life and food and have control of it instead of it controlling you. Best wishes!

Some people do become a bit fanatical after their surgery. They take the "living a healthy life" path and run with it (literally) and never get off. I see people in a group called VSG Gym Rats!!!!! and I just think "Good for you, but I don't see that being me."

That said, I do exercise. I am embracing better food choices. But I didn't have this surgery to be on a diet for the rest of my life. I can get my requirements in with foods that I enjoy, and part of my emotional health may require that I have some chocolate or enjoy some pizza (when I get there!) when I want to.

I feel bad for the people who think there's no other way to be, who think it's okay to badger someone on the same path they are on simply because they don't want to do it. Reminds me of (some) reformed alcoholics or (some) Christians.

I say good for you .I was sleeved on 3/19 ,and have been struggling with Water and Protein and trying to do the right stuff... but i do indulge in some chips when and if i can .. Its funny i woke up today after a whole 3 hours of sleep..(haha) (have a bit of trouble with that.) i said to myself today i will have what i want and wont stress about the requirements.. just for today and its funny how your post showed up.... So thanks ,I will have a good day!!!! :D

I am right here with you.....I also know that this is a support group and in a support group there are many different types of people in them. There are people that will challenge you and it might feel mean, but it also helps give a boost. There are people that take offense at the way others post here. If something bothers me, then i don't respond because I don't care what they are saying anyways.....They don't know me. But I will go back and reread what I posted and if it could somehow be interpreted in a negative way. After all, people are people and we are all unique...... :)

Or take the attitude that this is not a diet and everything in moderation!

I really need to pick a side so I can judge, I mean impart my wisdom on the subject! :P

Good for you and your weight loss! You sound happy and and that's half the battle.

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
