I am just a few days ahead of you(April 30th). Prilosec might work but I have been on the stuff for years my stomach still sings like crazy. Try some Decaf lemon ginger tea with a smidge of honey. Also walking is highly effective.

Hi All, well this is my very first post and this thread has intrigued me enough to ask a question. I'm pre-op and I see my surgeon on Friday. I'm hoping that I will get my surgery date! Anyways, on the topic of acid reflux. I have it pretty bad now in which I take prilosec on a daily basis. When I was weighing my decision on the RNY vs the sleeve, my surgeon indicated that my reflex would be more of a problem with the sleeve. I'm curious to know if anyone has resolved acid reflex post-op. The only two concerns I have about the sleeve for me is the acid and the type 2 diabetes. In which I'm hoping both will go away with the weight loss!

For those only having the two bottles of Water some broth and Jello, be careful! That's around how much I was taking in day 3-6 then today, day 7, I was hospitalized with dehydration and was miserable. liquids are so important. I set a timer on my phone so I drink 4oz every hour! Hope everyone feels good :)

Hello Sue! I can't help you there....I haven't had any acid reflux. I am about 8 weeks out, so I'm hoping that it just won't be a problem for me. If you look around on the forum there are probably some discussions, or you could start a new thread. Good luck!

HeatherRad I am having surgery Friday the 5th and I'm teaching class on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. We do what we must. Just take it easy.

My reflux was bad before surgery thanks to band issues. I still have it. Doc just put me on protonix because the other meds weren't working. It is helping. Acid makes me feel like I am starving!

I was hungry the day after surgery and was shocked. I asked my dr and he said of course you are you haven't eaten anything in 4 days. I think it stopped after a couple weeks, I still get hungry just not the crazy growling that goes with it. I am 2.5 months post op.

I am on prilosec for a year post surgery even though I have no signs of acid reflux before or after. It's geared towards helping your stomach heal because the sleeve is notorious for reflux.

I never had hunger before this surgery, but now I feel like I'm starving! I can only tolerate warm Water, broth & occasionally tea. I too have the rumbling in my stomach. I'm taking Protonix, so I'm thinking it is true hunger. The thought of food disgusts me. I have trouble and dread every sip of water I take because of the feeling like someone is squeezing my stomach & the air trapped in my chest.

Happy Girl, I feel the same. Every sip it feels like this huge gas bubble expanding in my stomach. Major pressure. It makes the thought of drinking anything scarey.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
