Hello all! I have my date set for 6/4. My question is and I understand everyone is different. I have 2 small children and I'm wondering how long I may be down for. I'm planning now for help and just wondering how long. I've had a few abdominal surgeries(c-sections & lapband) and I tend to bounce back. Thanks in advance!!

I have a 17 month old. I had surgery on a Wednesday and was out of the hospital Friday. I had help the entire week after and then was fine!

Sleeve was way easier than my c-sections (mine were 27 & 30 years ago)

I popped back up pretty well. One thing to make sure though, is that you get good rest. Presuming you have an easy recovery as I did, you will still be tired by early evening, probably sooner for you since you are looking after little ones.

I have a 10 year old and I had his dad take him for a week-I was exhausted after my hospital stay and surgery. Surgery was on a Monday and I was out on Wednesday. I'm now at day 16-I feel even weaker than I did then, but I'm off pain meds so I can drive to and from school so I'm back to having him. If you have someone you trust to care for your children-take their help. You'll need it.

For the record:I've never had a surgery before and anesthesia was not kind to me. Sounds like you're some what prepared for that so maybe it'll be easier for you. But I still say plan for help-it'll be easier to send help home than scramble to find it.

I would say to have help lined up for the first full week. If you don't need it, great, but if you do at least it's there. The first week post op is usually the toughest. Good luck!

I would just mention, and by no means intending to scare you, but a lot of us were on an emotional roller coaster until everything settled some so you might have the help to shield the children a bit :)

I had surgery Wednesday afternoon, discharges Thursday morning, and went right back to caring for my 2&4 year olds. I didn't have any lifting restriction, but I avoided it as much as I could. I showed them my band aids and told them my tummy hurt and asked if they'd help me. Now everyday my 2 yr old wants to see my owies.

I guess how much help you need is really individualized.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
